@@Josh313Johnson they make you work off the clock and even though in your employee contract it says "all work related to LA Fitness will be payed and tracked". They upper management are extremely emotional abusive and talk to you as if you're a five year old. They lie to customers about memberships, training contracts and don't even bring up all available deals. For example i had a family who la fitness made each of them buy a training contract and lied about them being able to share one but i've had multiple clients that all shared theirs. There was a member who got cheated somehow into buying two memberships so he was being charged twice* a month. When i was going to call him and tell him about it my manager told me not to call him because he "had enough money". Another thing is they tell you not to talk to other employees about pay. Example i found out i wasn't being paid for the time i was working on scheduling all of my clients and another trainer there thought he was being paid and i told him hes not. a few days later he quit and my manager told me not to talk to anyone else about things like that. not only that since i left. My old boss has been defaming my name to people about why i was fired saying i was fired for "cussing out a higher up (false) slamming cabinets and throwing things around (false) what really happened was they were screwing my pay because of the la fitness to esporta transition and denied me for possibility of promotion so i said i want esporta contracts so i could at least make 16$/hour so my boss's boss orded my regular manager to take away all of my old clients i was making 12$/hr on and give me esporta ones. So i said i was going to call my old clients and let them know why im not training them anymore and he fired me for that.

@@DontWorryBouttaThing $12/hr working for a big box gym? That's insane. Going independent and working online or taking your own in-person clients to like a local park you can charge a lot higher bro i'm talking like $70-120/hr per client. Literal minimum wage for a job title as a 'Personal Trainer.' 🤣 Hope all is well with you now!

I had a personal trainer at an LA Fitness in San Diego back in 2006, I remember it costing almost 1500 dollars, for a 30 minute session 5 days a week for a month, he was just out of high school too. I wonder how much he was making, kind of pisses me off that most that money didn't go to him.

I had a personal trainer at LA Fitness, they charge me $30 for every half hour session. I guess LA Fitness keeps $24 & the trainer $6. It should be the other way around. Oh, they also have a high turn over, I had six personal trainers within that one year.💪🤷‍♂️

Timelessmusic Familymusic Yea the trainers make a very small percent of what the client actually pays. At my location we had the same trainers for 2 years. You just had some bad luck having that many trainers.

I’ve been at La fitness for 6 months, it’s not just bad luck. My location and one of the nearby ones have the same energy. They suck at paying people so people leave.

Bottom line... If they paid the trainer most of the money, the trainers would work harder, there would be no turnover, and you would not have to keep switching trainers. I've seen trainers playing on their phone while training clients. When I worked in north Miami location, there were a few clients that would switch trainers on purpose ever 2 weeks just to get something different. There is a different vibe down there.

I'm actually a PTD (personal training director) at LA. Info is pretty accurate in video, not sure why your location only had one set of dumbells, I consider my location to be quite small and we have 2 sometimes 3 sets of the same dumbells. I'm down to 1 trainer post covid so hes loving it. As far as no shows/cancels, I like to get my trainers out on the floor looking for potential clients. They give out freebie workouts and ill pay them for the hour worked. Then if they get the member to come and sign up for training with me I pass on the commission to them. Double paid and a new client. Idk how many of us out there do that but I want to make sure I treat my trainers right. I also start training them to become future managers/directors at the gym.
@ryanhutton5577
@ryanhutton5577 3 жыл бұрын
Jeremy Wake yea if that was offered to us at my gym I would love that. We were not paid for giving potential clients free workouts so obviously we weren’t going to do them. You sound like a great ptd and I bet your trainers love you for that!
@21jeremyw
@21jeremyw 3 жыл бұрын
@@ryanhutton5577 I try to be because I remember how it was when I first started training. I should clarify on the getting paid for freebies. Technically speaking trainers are paid either minimum wage or the 12+ per 2 sessions per hour worked. So if my trainer has the freetime and goes out on thr floor ill put him/her down for working an hour. As long as I can justify they weren't getting paid for doing nothing it works. Then its just a little bonus if that member signs up to be their client. I will say this post covid time is really difficult for memberships and even harder for training.

i already applied for PT couple days ago and then got a call from yesterday for interview tomorrow and i love fitness and gym addictive but somehow i don’t have a certified but i only certified USA Gymnastic Coach from previous but my gymnastic work still closed since March, 20,2020 due to Covid-19. So i wonder if i still have any chance to get hire even though PT position need certified but i don’t due to tough time this year Pandemic. I have knowledge about coaching gymnastic just like regular gym as train safe, effective and avoid injuries.
