I have listened to several versions of this song, so I can affirm without excess of enthusiasm, nor lack of information, that this is without a doubt one of the best. It may be true that she needs to improve her pronunciation, but the feeling in her interpretation is unbeatable. Chevel, luv your voice. In my younger days, I lived in the 4-Corners Area where you are from and knew the stories of La Llorona. I'd worked as a mule Packer / Guide in the high country up in Wilderness Area of the San Jaun Mtns near Durango, Co and also worked on cattle ranches in AZ, NM + CO. Many nights with my saddle next my fire, spent next to a stream or river, the murmuring of the constantly flowing water, would sound like there were distant voices in the night, somewhere along the water's edge, or perhaps, it was La Llorona, wailing for her drowned babies.

The Zapotec song of "La Llorona" is inspired by the tragic romance of a young Oaxacan couple. The story tells that a young man from Tehuantepec went to a party in the neighboring community called Juchitán. Over there, he met a beautiful girl coming out of the church wearing the famous Istmeño regional dress called a huipil. For a while, he tried to conquer the young woman, and then he got the approval of her parents to marry her. But the winds of the Mexican revolution blew in Oaxaca (1911/1912), and before going to war, he told her something like this: I remember the day we went to the river and the flowers in the field seemed to cry. With you, the clouds in my sky are nothing; even the sun does not compete with your smile. The war is calling me because the peace of our country has been stolen. I will return to you and our future family. I will never stop loving you in this life and death. ‌ Finally, the day of his departure came. When he said goodbye to her, tears ran through her eyes, and sighs of pain invaded the face of her beloved. While he was talking to her, he took both of her hands, at the same time that he wiped away with his own the tears that fell down his wife's cheeks, and then he called her "weeper" because she did not stop crying, knowing that she might not see her husband again. Kisses and promises flew through the air, and he swore that he would return for her life and death with total impunity. She also promised to wait for him no matter what happened. Many people at the time knew the couple and were dismayed by them. The young man went off to war, but he never came back. Sometime later, a mutual friend of theirs returned to town and told her: your husband was hit by bullets, and the wounds were so terrible that it was impossible to save him. But as he lay dying, he asked me to tell you that he will always love you and please forgive him. Here's a letter he gave me for you: You left the temple one day crying when I saw you passing by, you were wearing a beautiful huipil, weeper that I believed you were the Virgin. In the sky, the sun is born, my weeper and in the sea the moon is born, and in my heart, love is born, weeping I love you like no other. Even if it costs me my life, weeper I will not stop loving you. Oh my weeper, llorona you are my xhunca (honey) They will ask me to stop loving you, weeper but stop loving you, never Do not think that I sing to you, weeper I have a happy heart Also, in pain, you sing, weeper when you can't cry. Don't cry, dear garment I will wait for you on the horizon every morning, it is needless to say. She cried all the time because of that letter, and she never remarried because she hoped to meet her beloved in paradise and fulfill her promise. Their baby was born a week after the news, and every October 30, they had dinner together. A wife and son in the land of the living and a husband from the realm of the dead, until the great eagle, brought them together again. Time passed, and the story was written as a local folk song and has survived all this time.
