Well, here at 6,000 feet elevation in Wyoming I know how this winter's going to be, just like last winter, cold and windy. We regularly get into -30F windchills, not below 32F but below that pesky ZERO mark. The tradeoff is no humidity in summer,.

I just hope I get a real winter with no freeze and melt cycles like last winter. It was hell on my gravel roads, ground so soft the ruts almost swallowed cars. While I am not fond of -30 degrees better that than what last winter did! And yes, I snowboard so I have skin in the game!

my guess for snowfall total in December, January and February: 52 inches for Chicago, 27 inches for New York City, 18 inches for DC, 39 inches for Boston, 42 inches for Minneapolis, 15 inches for Cleveland, 45 inches for Albany, and last, but not least, 22 inches for Pittsburgh.

LA Nina has come back. That signals a return to normal weather. What is a normal weather, that means that the buildup to super storms or the storms of the century is over and milder climes are returning. A cool down if you may. My attention us how the hurricanes tore parts of itself apart to join the noreastener which may be a huge surprise . When the noreastener moves and stalls towards England then the normal winter returns

winter 2023/24started as a La Nino,and immediately became and ElNino after several atmospheric rivers had already hit the US west coast. Now we have a predicted LaNina with warmer gulf/eastern Atlantic sea temps. Basically the same scenario as last year. Im not sure is ENSO should even play a role in climatology forecast. Abandon it just like the Farmers Almanac. New reality, new rules.
