I think it's very likely that La Pavoni sent their machine off to an American PR/video producer consultant to prepare this video for the U.S. market. The producers appear to be pretty clueless about making good espresso.

Just found this vid. Have used this machine for 20 years. It is high maintenance - but taking care making a coffee is relaxing for some (not all users). This machine does need everything to be in place (see Filip Jensen's accurate if rude explanation for what that means elsewhere in this thread). And that is a fair criticism. But once you have the nack, it makes fantastic coffee over and over again with a thick creamy crema (HaHa!). The real issue with this machine, as with all top class non-professional machines, is that it's difficult to make several great coffees for a number of guests at a dinner party.

That's what I thought!! Where's the crema? I have an Illy FrancisFrancis X7.1 and love the look of this, but... I think it's way too high maintenance for me and my FrancisFrancis makes a better looking Espresso, but don't think the machine will last 20 years as these do! :/

+Filip Jensen Crema means cream in Italian. And seeing as we are speaking English, I used the English word. But they are both the same words, just different languages, therefore it is dumb to say crema in English. Italians say crema, we say cream.

Crema doesn’t define a good shot, it was a made up term by Gaggia to sell there espresso machines, look it up.

It wasn't espresso, the coffee was ground too coarsely and probably stale, nothing should drip from the portafilter until you apply pressure, and you should have to apply decent pressure at that, the machines are great but this video doesn't show that.
