I feel so hart-touched. I am a sixty two-years-old amateur guitarrist born in Pamplona. I have come across this story by chance and I realized that I learnt drawing from José Antonio Eslava when I was a child. The Pearl guitar was likely there where I was taught in Plaza del Consejo atelier. Music is really a global language that flies over borders and times. Thank you for preserving La Perla. I am a proud owner of a La Leona copy made by the luthier master Carlos Juan Busquiel.

The most beautifully told guitar story I have ever seen. Having been a race car driver I’d just imagine playing the instrument knowing it’s history to feel less like an F1 and more akin to a classic endurance sports racer taking on the Targa Florio❤

A wonderfully produced documentary that also brings to light the great music of Tarrega and it's inspiration that the sound of Torres guitars had on him. Beautiful performance from Rody van Gemert.

Thank you so much for this beautiful video. It's a great pleasure to see such dedicated people who spent so much time in reviving this guitar and giving it a new life. In our chaotic world it's so wonderful to see artists like these. Bravo to both the luthier and the guitarist. La Perla sounds so worm and cozy.

@@RodyvanGemert But thanks to YLE and to Uwe and everyone. Such a nice story. And the recordings of the guitar pieces are exemplary.

@@christopherlord3441 Thanks, I'll tell them. Most of the Tarrega pieces I recorded in a 100 year old Villa in the mountains of Spain. It is the direct sound, no effects or anything added. Only 2 close mics and slightly mixed in 2 mics that hung from the ceiling.

Bedankt Chester.

what an amazing sound. Who makes an classical guitar today with such a sweet tone?
@RodyvanGemert9 ай бұрын
A lot of the music played here is performed on the copy that Uwe Florath made of the La Perla in 2010, because when we where making the documentary the original La Perla was not yet playable. Towards the end the original La Perla can be heard. Or listen here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/Z2Knlahqr9xlj7s Best wishes, Rody

Thank you. I am very touched by the whole story. I wonder what the scale length of La Parla is? I hope you will come back to Japan, so we can listen to you and the Torres. 😊
@RodyvanGemert10 ай бұрын
The scale is ever so slightly less then 65cm, actually Torres didn't think in centimetres, he used an old Almeria way of measuring length. Uwe Florath, the luthier who did the restoration printed a ruler with this scale and it turned out that the number 7 is everywhere in Torres's design. It is a holy number. Most probably I will be in Japan again autumn 2025
