That's a sweet knife! My kids gave me a Tops Brakimo bushcraft knife a few years ago for my birthday. It's a pretty good knife - built like a tank, but it slices fruit and vegetables like a sledgehammer. I should loan you my cat. I told her to go out and kill the squirrels in my yard that are destroying my apple crop, so yesterday she brought me a squirrel. Before that, I'd tell her to go kill the mice around the chicken coop, and she'd bring back mice to show me before she eats them. Strange that nothing would eat the squirrel, though. The cat, the dog, the chickens and turkeys wanted nothing to do with it. I think a crow took off with it this morning after I left it on a fence post last night.

I like the knife so much I bought two. One's a different version that has a wood handle instead of the micarta and a different edge geometry.

Thanks for posting your experience James. And I think you nailed the difference in performance between that blade in a scandi-vex vs straight scandi. The scandi-vex will not carve crisp corners as easily or bite as deep when cutting across the grain, but it will slice better for food prep vs a scandi.

Nice presentation. I've never gone for the more basic, historical blades due to the lack of any guard preventing the hand from slipping on to the blade. But for enthusiasts and purists, I see the appeal.

Olive 🫒 oil potato and onion lil season and breakfast sausage is one of my all time favorite. That's also why I like more traditional Scandinavian/saber grind, trad scandi is more like a Americans saber grind is not hollow, as in it's not as chunky and short fat angle as more modern Scandi is, like on a garberg. The grind angles ever so slightly more towards the center of the knife so it's not as obtuse aka Chucky like modern Scandi. I love scandi for wood and saber/traditional Scandinavian for all around OR just full flat it amazing.

Dude, that knife looks like the Holy Grail of bushcraft knives. On one hand I want my knives to be ~ 1/4" thick, on the other hand, a thick knife isn't always the right tool for the right job. 🤔🤔🤔
