The design at 8:00 is very similar to Chinese dress Qipao. Although this is Vietnamese dress but it has some Chinese elements and Japanese elements. For examples, chrysanthemum flowers, peacocks, and cranes appear very very often in Chinese arts since ancient time. Japanese arts and kimono heavily use cranes, and chrysanthemum is national flower. The large, square sleeves are signature of Chinese traditional dresses called Hanfu, and Japanese kimono as well. And of course dragons and phoenixes are too. As part of Sinosphere culture, of course vietnam gets a lot of influences from neighbours. This collection is quite creative.

Good insights! As an American who went to Nam since 2000s it's quite cool to see their advancements though. At 14:00 the dress looks like an alien bird nest

@@davidschenider9124 And I think the designer should use lotus flower because that is their national flower and is highly appreciated. Chrysanthemum is rarely used and rarely appreciated in vietnamese culture. But I guess the designer wants more variety in the design, the she borrows the element from other Asian culture. I saw some of their collections use peony flower which is national flower of China and is highly appreciated in Chinese culture. Peony flowers appear in a lot of Chinese arts.
