Thank you for this video! Your game play explanation was great and allowed me to play the game by just skimming the rules. I always learn best by seeing first and then reading the rules. You are right there are many great older games out there that are overlooked.

I was just gifted this from a friend who bought it for $0.50 at a garage sale. Thanks for the nice video because it helps me get an idea of how I might feel about it. I definitely noticed that first player advantage just from reading the rulebook and had the same thought about a reverse order workshop location draft. I picture this being a good game for folks who want to have a traditional gaming experience similar to playing rummy or sequence. Something short enough to be played a couple of times in a row and light enough to be played with some conversation happening over the top of it. In a way, it's in the wheelhouse of gateway games because I think it makes you want more, kind of like how I felt about Catan and Ticket to Ride - fun experiences that also make you want to try something with just a little extra. Anyways, thanks!

Another great job covering an underrated game. I’d love to see you cover Taj Mahal. I’d consider that a gem that deserves a little more love.

Hi Jon! I have Taj Mahal and have major respect for it. I'd agree it deserves more love now than it gets, but it was a Top 20 game on BGG for a long time! (Back when that list was the ranking of best games of all time, and there was much less movement than there is now.) There was a new edition three years ago. For now, I'd like to focus on games that are more likely to have been forgotten. Thanks for the suggestion, though! If I'm still doing this years from now, I'm sure I'll cover it. Cheers!

Having said all that above, I will say, I expected there to be more videos about the game than there seems to be. Hrrm. I'll think about it!

@@BoardGems I know. That’s why I brought it up. Hope you get around to it but I understand where your coming from. Either way. Keep on keeping on. Love the channel.

Great vid, I appreciate your point of view :) I'm researching games with hex tiles and just came across this. Got any more lesser known ones?
@BoardGems3 жыл бұрын
Do you mean games in which you're laying down hex tiles? Hmm. There's lots of rail games, for example, and you have stuff like Attika and Hacienda which involve putting tiles into hex spaces.. But their orientation in the hex doesn't matter. Taluva is pretty great, not sure if that's in line with what you're looking for. For a pretty obscure one, you could look at Bison. It has interesting curved hexes that limit ways of fitting. I have it, haven't played it though, so can't recommend.

Hmm, the lightest Martin Wallace game. Perhaps spotlightongames.com/list/nights/u.html#und

Ha, when I first opened that link, I misread and thought Wallace had designed Uncle Wiggily! And I was like, "I guess that *would* be the lightest Wallace game."

@@BoardGems Poor Martin. You're making him so old. ;)
@BoardGems3 жыл бұрын
Ha ha! In my (poor) defence, I didn't think Martin Wallace was surprisingly old, I thought Uncle Wiggily was surprisingly recent! And it would be a compliment to him, to show his amazing range. 😀

@@BoardGems Pretty sure you've never actually played Uncle Wiggily. ;)

This game seems to drown in the sea of all the other great games?
@BoardGems3 жыл бұрын
Oh yes. Noone talks about this game anymore, at all. And I don't blame anyone for trying it and thinking it was just meh. But it was just great for me.
