Divine! Traviata was my introduction to Opera, and since that first production I have seen countless productions by several different Opera companies, with many different sopranos in the role of Violetta- and I own Traviata recordings with just about every noteworthy Soprano who ever recorded the role, from Te Kanawa to Sutherland. I first heard this particular recording about 7 years ago, and to this day, it's still my favourite recording of this aria and Cabaletta. Not Callas, not Sutherland, not Tebaldi. Gruberova. Effortless, and executed with a youthful vigour unsurpassed.
