Jasper, Alberta was the most fire-proofed & fire resistant town/city in Canada This past summer, because of the *Federal government COMPLETELY IGNORING their own reports & studies which demanded IMMEDIATE action be taken to reduce the excessive fuel load in the National Park*, 1/3rd of this historic & iconic town was incinerated in a catastrophic wildfire. Literally the only reasons most of the township survived, was because of the local municipality's efforts to effectively maintain the lands they controlled, and the valiant efforts of the firefighters working tirelessly day and night to protect as much as they could. But sadly, local governments cannot do any kind of fire prevention such as proscribed & controlled burns, or clear out deadwood and other fuel loads on federal lands. California is no different, except that ALL their levels of government are equally incompetent & complicit in this disaster... cutting funding to the fire department, not refilling the resevoire systems so the hydrants are running dry, ludicrous DEI hiring practices over meritocracy, 0 forest management, crumbling infrastructure...

Livestock grazing to reduce fuel loading was reduced or eliminated. Managers allowed fire loads to increase from dead and down trees and brush. I was in wildland fire w/20 person Montana Indian Firefighter crews from 1987 - 2001. We went to several fires in Redding, Big Bear, Orange Co and San Juan Capistrano. It's the same feeling for people who lost their apartment or homes in the ghettos of Los Angeles due to poverty or loss of job or mental illness and they went homeless years ago and they are still homeless now. Their homes were their paradise and their whole life. The homeless run everyday with suitcases and blankets under their arms and society shuns them and stigmatized them for their homeless circumstances. ❤🙏
