La Yuqawam Tobacco Blaze by Rasasi

I've had both of these in my Scent Armory for the past 2-3 years. While everyone is familiar with the brilliant La Yuqawam Pour Homme, the Tobacco Blaze flanker is relatively unknown. To be honest, I did like it but I didn't wear it much because it just seemed a bit odd to me and my fragrance tastes at the time. Fast forward to the following year and I fell in love, love, love with it - definitely unique and an original composition. Oud, leather, powdery...okay, but to me this comes-across as the fragrant-smelling ash of a fine cigar (tobacco) that was dipped in apricot brandy and rolled in spices, with violet and perhaps some other floral notes chirping in the background. As this fragrance progresses, I sense a dirty-dried straw/hay accord although the aforementioned tobacco ash continues to smolder softly, and under control, in the background. I will assume the interplay of coumarin and some other notes give this fragrance its body, which really is Tobacco Blaze (aka Cigar on Fire). While this was not originally not one of my favorite scents...it is damn interesting, and how Rasasi made oud, leather, et al., smell like lighted tobacco is genius. The drydown strikes a nondescript semi-dark/earthy accord; patchouli, oud, leather, woods and amber? Perhaps, but my nose cannot separate the notes...plus, that ashy accord--along with this fragrance quickly becoming a skin-scent at drydown--makes things a bit difficult on the olfactory senses. Longevity is excellent (9-10 hours) and it projects moderately for 4-hours before transitioning to a skin-scent. Overall, I feel that Tobacco Blaze can be a somewhat polarizing fragrance; some will love it and some will dislike it. The presentation is fantastic! Tobacco Blaze comes packaged in a handsome black ceramic bottle and an excellent magnetized faux wooden-box. Enjoyed your review...spot-on and I wish more people tried this one. It's definitely highly-underrated IMO.

My 2 faves from last year onwards,,found and blind bought both bottles and was impressed straight away,Forget Tom Fords outrageous prices,try these you won't be dissapointed.Also try by surrati Tom tuscan leather attar oil it smells amazing.If you want to smell sweet try Roja danger attar oil,,my mr's and her friends fave smell of all time.

Please try the $25 Rasasi Shuhrah from notino, it's compared to Tobacco Blaze a lot. Shuhrah is one of my favorite scents of all time, and I don't have Tobacco Blaze yet.. Shuhrah is beast mode and amazing as well.

Would this be worth getting if one already has Tobacco Vanille (in terms of a different experience) and Tuscan Leather (in terms of the base being the pour homme which is quite similar to Tuscan Leather)? I'm looking for another tobacco scent and right now can't decide between this and Chergui (I find Pure Havane to be too sweet, and I can tolerate Chergui's sweetness for some reason).

Abhishek Subbaiah Hi It is very different to Tobacco Vanille and Tuscan Leather. This is a real cigarette type of tobacco, the Apricot note is very strong so this is one to try a sample of first before blind buying a bottle. I would imagine this isn't for everyone.

It is not a smoking cigarrete. It is a nature that smells. When you are in the forest while raining you get that smell.

I have both, Tobacco Blaze and La Yuqawam and prefer the latter. TB is a bit sweeter. You're review was spot on regarding the longevity

+Nick Hawkins I did try a sample of Dueto Golden Boy and it bore an uncanny resemblance to La Yukawam. Strong and vibrant as well. Not sure if I dare wear these to the office ....

+Shane DM I have Golden Boy and I like it too. It's probably a more office wearable version of La Yuqawam I think. Its not quite so potent. But La Yuqawam wins for me every time.
