Laali Chhangani vs Pappi Maharaj Chhangani: CLUB KACHORI: Kalakar Street, Barabazar There's not much to differentiate in taste between the two though Kachori & Sabzi at Pappi Chhangani is less oily and tastier. Kachori at Pappi Chhangani is fried infront of the customer which is an advantage while at Laali Chhangani it comes to the outlet from a nearby kitchen. Space & environment at Pappi Chhangani is much better than at Laali Chhangani (the older outlet of the two). Hygiene at Pappi Chhangani is much better than at Laali Chhangani which is cramped and somewhat unhygienic. Behaviour of the young owner Sanjay at Pappi Chhangani is much more customer friendly than at Laali Chhangani. Mr Laali Chhangani seems to have a temper tantrum issue and is often rude to customers as if he's doing the customers a favour. Of course he's seen to be very pleasant to his friends and contacts. Atmosphere at Pappi Chhangani is also family friendly with enough space on the footpath which is not so at Laali Chhangani. HOWEVER BOTH LAALI & PAPPI Chhangani ARE HUGELY OVERRATED. You can get Club Kachoris of comparable quality & taste, with much better hygiene at many places in Kolkata, especially South, Central. Not worth going all the way to have it there. However you may try it if you are visiting Barabazar in any case. OVERALL RATING (Food, Service, Hygiene & Atmosphere): LAALI CHHANGANI (this heritage outlet): 2.5/5 (lower rating mainly because of the poor hygiene and owner Laali Chaggani's rude/ overbearing/ bad behaviour) PAPPI MAHARAJ CHHANGANI (nearby outlet): 3.5/5

Good to see a different side of Shri Laali Chhangani. He must be earning Rs 8.5 lacs + per month from his sale of Kachoris alone. Just watch any KZbin vlogger's video and you'll see Laali ji serves at least 16 Kachoris per minute that's Rs 120/- from which his profit would be at least Rs 60/- per minute. Now multiply that by 60 minutes & by 8 hours per day & by 30 days in a month to arrive at your calculation. And this doesn't include the Kachoris & Jalebis which are packed. So it's not proper of him to say that he doesn't make a huge income from sale of Kachoris. It is well earned but he should accept it. However can't Laali ji invest a little bit from the Rs 1 Crore + per annum he should be earning from Kachori alone, to improve the decor & upkeep of his shop with proper storage, display units in a stainless steel counter which would improve hygiene of the outlet. The outlet he currently maintains does not measure up to his sales & goodwill especially in 2024. Also he should take extra care to maintain cleanliness of the area. Hopefully he is paying income tax and GST in adequate measure because our first duty is as a tax payer towards our country. I wish him well 🙌🏻🙏🏻
