We just got off Oasis that stopped here. My wife rented one of the cabana things in Columbus Cove. Best money we spent. The staff brought us our drinks so we never waited at the bar and we were real close to that dining area. Absolutely the best way to spend a day at the beach. Oh, the view of the ship was nice too.

We visited Labadee in February on the Jewel of the Seas, and I had low expectations of this stop. But, I loved it! There aren't many videos out there of this port that are as bright and pretty as this one, but luckily you had great weather. We did too and found this to be the best beach day. Be careful about getting too far away from the main area. Like they say, it’s a peninsula, NOT and island and there is a fence separating this area from the rest of Haiti. There are some sketchy individuals there that try to get you into their shops. We were there right before Covid. Food was blah, flies all over it. Beach area is beautiful but we decided there was more to do on the ship.

I just took a cruise there a week ago. As a Haitian American, I was very disappointed at the fact that they did not serve Haitian food!!! I inquired about why Haitian food wasn’t served or an option. I was told that considering Haitian food consist of spices that most people’s stomach may not agree with- the cruise line opt to have it as an option but yet, they were serving jerk chicken 🤨. Make it make sense?!

I think you can go to Labadee, but you cannot enter the part leased by Royal Caribbean
@Abegweit1112 жыл бұрын
Thank you for this., Very informative. I must say that I'm not impressed with the glitz. We were there before all the 'improvements' and enjoyed our beach day very much - even with the short rain shower! We booked a guided tour (is that still available? I think maybe not) We learned about different kinds of voodoo, Columbus, exploitation, colonization, slavery, and much more. We also learned about the RCL lease of the bay what it means to the town of Labadee. Our tour was to have been only an hour but our little group had so many questions, we kept our guide much longer. He didn't seem to mind; pleased that there were some that were truly interested. We spent a little time on the beach and shopping for locally made crafts. Something that I found very interesting, is that evening, back on board, we chatted with some fellow passengers who said that they thought the stop at Labadee was a waste of time. 'Really?' We then asked if they knew some of the things we learned. "No" they said. I realized that they had no interest in learning about any of those things. The 'new' Labadee and all the fun things to do is all most people are interested in. So, realizing that we are in a minority, we accept the fact that Labadie Haiti is not for us.

Matt, Labadee looks like just what a Caribbean vacation should be. I couldn't imagine wanting anything more ,except mabey a week or two more time to do it all. Well there's always next year ! Q: How long did it take you to see and do it all ? PS thank you for including the map .
