i needed this, i picked up my Net+ and Sec+ late last year but got too comfortable. I've been "studying" for the CCNA for since February, the time is now, i take my CCNA tomorrow 💪🏿

I needed this. I moved back to the midwest from a high-paying network gig back in Colorado. Mom passed from the covid. Get here and aren't a lot of network jobs if any. Look at remote gigs, hard to get for me. So I take time and get my certs. Got my CCNA, then CCNP, earned my AWS SAA and a couple of Fortinet security certs. Still been out of work going on 4 months. I can sometimes get interviews, but when I do, I don't feel I'm interviewing like someone who HAS a CCNP. Truth is I studied, passed the exam and then rested on that cert to do all the heavy lifting for me. Du'An is sayin gin this video things I already know but up until now just kind of ignored. Right on. Time to take my career seriously, because I sure as heck don't want to lose it!

100% on point. Listen to this man. It took me until my mid-30s to figure this out. To all of you young cats, young 20s etc, get grinding and get out of your comfort zone and DON'T BE AFRAID TO FAIL. Learn it young. Failure is the stepping stones to success. Anyone who has EVER been or is success has failed and failed many times, believe that.

I just had a call earlier today so I could explain the importance of knowing when raises and promotions occur within your company. That one piece of information waterfalls into at least a one hour conversation of breaking down all sorts of little known things.

This video is a real wake up call for me. I've been in a NOC for a couple years and doing a really good job, but not doing these extra things to get myself to that Network Engineer level. I appreciate this video bro. Now I gotta get on it to get to where I want to be.

Thank you for making this, I think a lot of us in the industry needed to hear this! I think we all become complacent at times and don't want to study for certs or constantly invest personal time into ourselves. It's easier to just work, come home, and play video games or spend time with your friends. In life, it takes sacrifice to be successful. You need to invest your time now, make every second count.

Complacency is the silent killer in this field. This is the field where you can make as much as you want to make, its on you though.

Thank you so much for this video! This video was clutch. For the last few months of working in general IT I’ve became a victim of getting too comfortable and lately I’ve been having the burning desire to level up and get into my dream position of network admin. So I have been stressing myself out trying to prepare for the CCNA. You gave me much needed added inspiration.

You dropped some jewels in this one. Today I was at my desk going through the paces just being comfortable. You have to take that leap. Get uncomfortable. Respect.

Thanks for this video. People need to hear this. It’s not just for IT. One major thing I see that probably hits on a couple of the points in your list is IT people taking the time to learn a tech/spec/solution/or vendor and having a general consternation towards anything else. Focus on finding the best solution for the org needs, not what you specifically know. Then, if feasible, learn it. Stale IT is everywhere and it hurts everyone.

I’ve done 6-7 interviews with Microsoft now and no offer as yet pending (3) but I’m not giving up cause I know it only takes one try and I will get there.
