[Assistant Nurse Manager] I've had the opportunity to learn and
grow in many capacities while being here at Baptist. I've had great leaders who have supported me who has mentored me, who has actually looked out for my interest.
I was an RN first, worked on the floor labor and delivery, and I became an assistant nurse manager for the unit.
I believe my management style really is more of a servant leader. My philosophy has always been that I take care of the staff, so that the staff team can take care of the patients.
Sometimes you see something that is a strength in someone, that they don't see for themselves, and when we do that, then we can sit down and talk about what you see. And we can also ask them, you know 'What is it that they want to do?'. Because once I know what it is that they're aiming for then it's easy for me to support them.
The staff likes to know that in a crunch, when it's busy, you are available so for us we're on call 24/7, even when we're not physically here. The staff has our cell phone numbers, they have our home numbers, they know that we're readily available to them and they're not afraid to use it. So they will call us in the middle of the night, on the weekend, and if we physically have to come in to assist, We will do so.
I think I have a great relationship with my team. We have fun together here at work, sometimes outside of work. They know that they can come to the office at any time we have an open-door policy. They'll walk in and just can I talk to you for a minute and close the door and we can share. We round on them outside at the station. And you know we have lots of fun, in the midst of a stressful environment. They also know that we take time we have breaks, we laugh, we talk, we share about our families. So we're intimate family. We come in with that passion with that drive, that we're here today to make sure that the patient's experience is the best that they could have.
And I believe that at Baptist, here at Baptist Hospital, we really exemplify what that patient experience is.
I think we are the best.
