Nurse here. “Spontaneous vaginal delivery” is very common. It’s just when labor/delivery happens on its own without a dr needing to use tools to help the baby get out. So that’s how you will see the documentation on most deliveries 😄. Congratulations on your new addition!

I am so proud of you for not letting doctors push you to give formula! I'm all for fed is best but my first breast fed baby they talked me into giving formula an he got used to the bottle and wouldn't nurse. I've had 2 more since and would never let them push me like I did with my now 5yo.

In my health class they said the reason people Tear is because of the epidural they push way harder cause they cant feel it and it goes quicker and less time to adjust

I had a 4th degree labial with my 1st (it went all the way up instead of down. I didn’t tear between parts.) worst experience of my life and I couldn’t walk for 4 weeks! My 2nd I was forced to go all natural because I went from 1-10cm within 1 hour! It was unbearable but I could walk and was able to care for myself! I 100% would not have done epidural the first time !!

It’s called a spontaneous vaginal delivery basically anytime a women deliveries vaginally. It basically means you did it without the doctor having to use forceps and vaccums to assist with the vaginal delivery. It doesn’t have anything to do with the placenta abruption or the possibility of a c-section.

The shivers are very normal during labor. It's from the major shift in our hormones and our bodies naturally switch into adrenaline mode for the process. I remember they came to start my epidural while my shakes were in full effect! It was so hard!

Mom of two… biggest pet peeve is when the pediatrician freaks that they lost weight from time of leaving the hospital to the first apt the day after you leave the hospital. It’s very normal for infants to loose weight during this time due to moms milk coming in still. Glad to hear you didn’t give in to the formula. Only you and Josh know what’s best for your daughter.

Had a second degree tear myself. My advice is... take care and be very vigilant in the recovery period to avoid infection. You want the stitches to dissolve properly. Good luck

Wow, I had a 4th degree tear too (with my 4th child.) It was an natural unmedicated birth. It was insane! They didn't put you under anesthesia? I had to be put under anesthesia because mine was so bad. I had horrible pain after, but it is really not as bad compared to my 3 cesareans I had. It just hurt to sit down everywhere. Congratulations on your baby girl. If you ever had issues with lactation/breastfeeding, definitely contact le leche league or lactation consultant.

They induced me with my first three sons. I didn’t even have time for a epidural as he was born 4 hours after they started the induction. I tore like a t! Took him over a hour and a half to stitch me up. I’m enjoying your videos and huge congratulations on your beautiful baby girl Skye 💜

I am usually a silent viewer, but I just had to comment this time! I am not pregnant, but I plan to be in a year or two. I have had always had intense anxiety about vaginal deliveries. I’ve always thought I’d ask for a c section. After hearing your story, you’ve made me feel peace. I know that either way, it will be ok! You’ve motivated me to not be so afraid of a vaginal delivery and to trust that my body, baby, and I are strong enough to do it.

This is amazing!! As an L&D nurse, spontaneous vaginal delivery just means you had a vaginal delivery. Almost all of vaginal deliveries are “spontaneous vaginal delivery” hope this helps!

Watching this video made me feel so happy and emotional 🥹 I’m 8 months postpartum and hearing your experience just brings me back to when my daughter was born and going through postpartum. I love your positivity and you are truly glowing! Thank god for the epidural because I remember how bad the contractions were on pitocin. My epidural only worked on my left side which means I was still feeling contractions on the right but it wasn’t as bad. I pushed for 2 and a half hours and had a 1st degree tear. Even though I only had a first degree tear I remember how painful and uncomfortable it was postpartum and having a supportive husband to help in the beginning when you’re in pain and exhausted is such a blessing. Thank you for sharing your birth experience. Skye is so precious and soak in every minute of the newborn stage because it truly goes by sooo fast. I remember I didn’t listen to pediatrician about formula feeding either because I didn’t want to give up on breastfeeding. I strictly breast fed her until she was 5 months and then I noticed a drop in my supply when I went back to work so I had to introduce formula which there is nothing wrong with formula but I remember feeling like such a failure which is so silly to feel like that because at the end of the day fed is best but part of me felt torn I started to not produce enough. I still pump and breast feed her but I usually have to supplement 1-2 bottles of formula a day so she still mainly takes my milk. Breastfeeding is a lot of work but it’s so worth it and it’s the best for your baby. I love seeing how you take skye for walks and that you’re feeling good. I gave birth in winter time so first 2 months we barely took her out and spent lots of time at home. I did experience postpartum blues but not depression thank god. I work as an RN with women who have pregnancy complications and I will say that placenta abruption is so scary and I’m so glad everything turned out okay and that yours was minor and not severe. The severe cases usually end with baby being born as a stillborn😢 you could have the healthiest pregnancy and it just happens. Katie you are so strong and I am just beyond happy for you and josh. I’ve been watching you both for so long and it’s so exciting to see this new chapter in your lives as new parents. It truly changes your life and being a mom is the best feeling ever. Especially a girl mom🩷
