States like Anambra have been paying N25,000 to workers instead of N30,000 since 2019. So, Anambra state owes each worker a backlog of N5,000 monthly for the past 5 years on salary alone. It is owing pensions since around 2010 or longer. NLC should focus on states like that.

In a serious country, you increase national minimum wage every accounting year irrespective of inflation. Even if inflation does not increase in any subsequent year, national minimum wage still needs to increase as workers must be compensated.

I don't know the likes of Labour leaders reasoned honestly. If you go by the argument of inflation adjustment wage, using CPI inflation rate, minimum wage for the current year should beN40,800. If by Food Inflation rate, minimum wage should be N48,000. Now, to use dollar exchange rate is a very flop argument to advance in any serious negotiation.

Increasing minimum wage won't solve the problem. If minimum wage is increased, traders would increase the price of their commodities, what goes around comes around. The problem is to increase production which will increase supply and prices of goods would fall and the currency will have value. Solve power problems, repair the refinaries and the dollar will fall down. They're not interested in Nigeria, it's a game that they are playing...game of delaying to still more money through loans

Nigerian Labor leaders are so idiotic to the extreme. How do they want ordinary small scale businesses and in fact middle scale companies to be able to pay 490,000 Naira as minimum wage. Nigerian irrationalities personified! I have always said it and l am repeating it again. States must be made to pay the minimum wage they can afford. And the State Assemblies must decide that through legislation. The Unions can not impose any irrational minimum wage on the States or private businesses. The position of Unions on minimum wage is totally unacceptable. And they are taking this irrational position because they think Tinubu’s administration is unpopular and vulnerable, and therefore will capitulate to their minimum wage demands. They are mistaken. I suggest this administration introduce a bill in the National Assembly making Union strikes painful for the Unions. Go on strike to undermine the economy of the country or States in Nigeria, they will automatically owe the Federal Government and State Administration 100, 000,000.0 per day, as long as the strike goes on.
