I think you did a splendid breakdown. Especially how you tackled the sequencer before the rest of it. That sequencer, without being open to input from the user to specify definite notes, truly deserves the ‘generative’ label. Seems more fun than the DFAM, and I haven’t heard much praise for Spectravox. I love those tones and the filter can be shaped which is cool. Thank you for sharing about this unique synth!!

the mother 32 is lovely. when you combine it with another low pass filter, you get a chance to truly appreciate its high pass. the high pass filter on the mother 32 is special in the way it does a poor job at being a high pass when the resonance is turned up. the way it works is that it's actually using the low pass filter, and phase inverting it against the original signal. when the resonance is turned up, the phase of the signal being passed through the filter changes, thus reducing the effectiveness of the high pass. ironically, if you make it track the keyboard, it can greatly enhance the bass as you can turn the resonance up and really highlight the fundamental or the second/third harmonic without losing the low end or high end. however, it's largely impossible to appreciate without an additional low pass as it's still fundamentally a subtractive synth whose oscillators need to be sculpted in the high end.

The device seems to me to be the ideal FM injector for the Matriarch. It's a very interesting device, but it's a shame that Moog didn't take advantage of the obvious opportunities here. The sequencer in particular could have been much more useful if switches had been used instead of LEDs for the individual steps. This would have made it possible to leave individual steps unchangeable in generative mode while others would be prone to mutation.

@rafaelgarciamoreno80892 ай бұрын
Hello, I own a moog subsequent37 too, you will never be able to get what a moog laberynth does, it is not a moog dfam, it is more similar to a subsequent, more or less in sound, a laberynth is a carrier and modulator type system with a wavefolder and FM, that is, a complex oscillator, a subsequent cannot reach those sounds even if you try, it is a clone of the buchla, I make jazz, but for electronic things a sequencer is preferable to modulate the attack and decay filter and the gates, ceo that has a low pass gate, I'm not sure, but at least it has a very good percussive type AD for another palette of very beautiful sounds, what the FM synthesis does with wavefolder, I wish they had done it also in the subsequent moog, It would be a much more definitive monophonic/duophonic type synthesizer, but it is not, it is more of a classic type with overdrive, which is the best is its style, greetings
