They say that you could feel the heat a mile away, filming that must have been intensely hot.

Amazing footage! You got really close to those unexploded tanker cars. Wow. Must have been terrifying.

@Bill Wilson Whistling is from the relief valves operating, high pressure gasses are venting. Whistling from a relief valve is ALWAYS a VERY BAD sign. The louder and higher pitch of the valve, the closer it is to exploding. This is true from a 20lb propane tank up. If a valve is whistling, RUN!!!!

The fear in the videographer's eyes around 7:16 speaks volumes. What bravery to fight that fear and get such incredible footage!

Why the fuck do they have 72 carriage long trains with 7 million litres ((or gallons or tons I forget which ) of crude volatile oil. Your just asking for a disaster to happen. Then all the American lawyers go there leeching off people who have suffered a terrible disaster through no fault of their own. RIP to all who lost lives and my heart goes out the people injured and the people who lost someone in this disaster

Because this was not a probable accident. It’s because of a miscommunication between firefighters and the locomotive engineer

Economy of scale Dave, ever head of it ? Same applies to a train: the more load it is able to transport the less trip permits/taxes/salaries/equipment is needed/has to be payed.

Hard to understand how the sole engineer on the train could walk away from it leaving the lead engine running in spite of it failing numerous times during the trip there

Because he had to-- it was the end of his shift. The REAL problem, was the RR NOT having a new crew ready to take over, immediately. The time the train was parked, was enough time for everything to happen.
