3 жыл бұрын

Join a Met specialist to learn about the history and making of lace and examine highlights from the collection. In 1879, lace became the first textile the Museum acquired, and today the collection of lace includes over five thousand pieces. Please note: This event is prerecorded.
Presented in conjunction with the exhibition Making The Met, 1870-2020.

@@metmuseum The family is from a small town in Calabria called San Vito sullo Ionio. There was crochet, of course, but also real lace-making. I will make sure not to miss the examples when I come back to the exhibit!

Saw her live in London at the Dress Historians conference in 2019 and she was superb. Love her lace passion and how she puts all that into the MET.
