I heard Millay didn't anticipate her book becoming so popular that I think the pressure of a second book was too much. Similar to Margaret Mitchell Gone With The Wind type of thing. I could be wrong, but I heard that some where in an interview I think.

I loved several of Maya Banks and Katy Evans' books. I was reading the KGI series by Maya Banks and I've been waiting for the rest of the books in that series for a long while now. I hope she recovers from her health issues and comes back to publishing someday. Maybe Katy Evans is only on a hiatus? Hopefully, she'll publish soonish. Great video, Lacey!

Julie Garwood is almost 80, so good for her (or her ghostwriter). Maya Banks has such a huge Contemporary Erotica backlist, you've hit just the tip of the iceberg with her Highlander series. I've gotten rid of a lot of these authors from my shelves but don't think I'll ever sell my Olivia Cunning collection.

I've been holding out for Highland Ever After for years as well! I've had the book on my library's (Libby) hold list since 2019 when I first saw it show up as "coming soon". Another fave author I REALLY miss is Julie James. I can't wait for the movie adaptation for Something About You though! (esp since JJ herself is writing the script)

I’m sure Maya Banks wants to out her best work but I would take the roughest draft of the last book of the Highlander series. She can do no wrong in my eyes. Maya has a loyal fan base so she can release whenever and we will still buy it.

I have all of Judith McNaught's books both in paperback and hard cover. Believe me we all have been waiting for new books. There was a contemporary book with nods to the Westmorlands supposed to be released years ago but she got sick of the rewrites and scrapped it. Then she was supposed to release The Sweetest Thing. The date for that was changed several times. The issue with The Sweetest Thing is that it's a rewrite of the novella Double Exposure, which is actually the first Foster story. And when the rewrite changes the original story to include a wedding based reality TV show, what the hell happens with Remember When, which is book 2? There's no TV show at all in that one. Double Exposure was so well written, it didn't need to be rewritten and expanded.
@LaceyBooklovers2 жыл бұрын
I had no idea it was supposed to be a rewrite! I wonder if she’s even still writing. Probably not lol. But I do need to read Double Exposure!

Let me start off saying you made me reload my kindle some tof the books you mentioned. I havent read in awhile and i think i will reread now. Olivia Cunnings, Backstage series was my first rock star romance and erotica. I agree about Maya banks highlander romances. i've reread them so many times and was hoping for the last book to come out but dont think that is happening. JM Darhower - Monster series i also reread and loved. I have read all of Kresley Cole immortals and the game maker series. I wish she would write about the sister in the third one as well. I havent read the arcana series but i think i will put that on my tbr. thanks for this video it made me remember some of my early reads i forgot about.

It almost hurts when a beloved author stops writing ✍ doesn't it? This has happened to a few authors I've loved too. The most memorable one is Judith Ivory/Judy Cuevas. She wrote some amazing historicals, they were very different. She just disappeared. Another author I really miss is Elizabeth Elliott. She wrote some very good medieval and historicals.one of the more infamous author who disappeared is Lisa Valdez. She wrote a couple of very hyped books and was supposed to have a third book but she was gone with the wind. There are quite a few others but those are the three I remember the most. I do love this topic.
@LaceyBooklovers2 жыл бұрын
Oooh I haven’t heard of these authors! Any recs on where to start?
@kristiejenner26422 жыл бұрын
Definitely Judith Ivory. She wrote some very unique historicals with such wonderful and interesting heroines. I think they are only available as printed books as when she was writing it was before ebooks or audio books. Another author I would also have mentioned except I couldn't remember her name, is Adele Ashworth. She also wrote some very great books and I just checked and they are available as ebooks, though a bit on the pricey side, at least here in Canada. Lisa Kleypas has recommended them. I'm sure you can find both in used or thrift book stores. I'd say check them out on GoodReads to see the synopsis and the kind of stars they've received. I have most of them though its been years since I last read them. Now I'm really wanting to read them. I do believe I shall have to dig them out of the boxes they've been resting in.

Love this! For me it's Maya Banks and Tracy Anne Warren. I was obsessively checking Maya's Facebook page for updates every month after binging her highlander trilogies and DYING for Highlander Ever After. I wanted that couple's story so freaking bad! I'm sad she stopped writing and hoping she's ok. The way she ghosted on social media and her team stopped responding with updates made me nervous. I've tried her Erotica Contemporary books and it's not the same. Tracy Anne Warren is also one I miss, she's an all time favorite of mine and she just stopped putting out books since 2017. She's so underrated in the romance community IMO but she writes some of the angstiest steamiest Historicals to date. I miss her work so much. 😭 I highly recommend her if you like insatiable naughty alpha heroes and age gap romances.

@liasonpureluv2 жыл бұрын
@@LaceyBooklovers Oh no! When was Maya's last update? Was it about her health issues? As for TAW, I recommend her Trap Trilogy (Book 1 The Husband Trap is my absolute favorite about twins switching places) and The Byrons of Braebourne series is really good too. It's like Bridgerton with a family of 8 siblings from what I remember (she did a spinoff for the last 3 siblings so my math might be off). Book 1 Tempted by His Kiss gives you shades of Devil in Winter, especially the opening scene. Hope that helps! Happy Readings! ❤️
