You bet -- Now you could walk through the process you told me about -- use the lacie to work and then transfer all that over to your permanent hard drive. - Just an idea - Keep going!

Where can I buy this particular model, (I'm in Canada)? I need one urgently and can't seem to find this model anywhere. My comp. Does not have a USB-C it does have a Thunderbolt so this would be perfect. 😊

I just bought one over at The Grove days ago. This vid is 3 years old-are the sentiments the same,& do you back up your HD w/ another one? Is Cloud a thing 4 U now?
@SpencerHarrisPortfolio3 жыл бұрын
Yup, actually still using the one in this video! I do have everything backed up, yes. I’ve come around now to the apple cloud, just for phone photos though. Thanks for watching!

The speed test is tainted because he loaded the thunderbolt drive first. They're both pretty fast and about the same speed. Other than that, I'm interested in the Lacie because of the ruggedness and speed. I'm a little hesitant because it is a Seagate product and they've been known to be faulty but I'm sure their quality control has gotten better.

Have a couple of LaCie SSD mobiles and two SanDisk SSD extremes, but my favorite SSD is my Samsung T7. After Macs reached the Monterey OS, well I had problems using all but the Samsung.

I have a few T7’s now too. SO GOOD!

Hi! So I’m a writer & photo hoarder, as well as a college student. This is the only hard drive on my campus website, and I’m just trying to figure out if it’s worth spending free-ish money on or if I can just go get a different one?
@beebri22133 жыл бұрын
It says specifically “LaCie STFR1000800” Thank you! In the case you respond haha

These are great hard drives. Since the making of this video I have also switched to Samsung T5’s. (1Tb). I would go with either. Can’t go wrong. (But the samsungs are faster [and more expensive] b/c they are solid state drives). Happy New Year!

I’m looking into getting one of these but Is there a way to put photos from a iphone on it?
@SpencerHarrisPortfolio3 жыл бұрын
Hey, yeah absolutely. Not sure if you are on a mac or a pc, but if you are on a mac, just import the photos into your photo library and then all you have to do is select them and drag into the harddrive folder that you want. Super easy

Thus is version 1TB. Higher version have separately usb c cable. So Spencer forgot to write here and speak about it.

Be careful with the LaCies! I’ve gone through 4 in less than 4 years. They just stop working suddenly and you’ll lose all your work. The “rugged” look is also very misleading.

Run N Gun very good to know! Luckily I back up everything on my 8tb desktop hardrive... running out of space on that one tho, may need to get another! Thanks for the sub man, appreciate it!

Fun fact: "La Cie" is a pun. The parent company is Seagate, and La Cie is French for "The Company". The enclosed chip is called a "FireCuda", which presumably is some sort of mythical sea monster. Lol. 🌊

Its a company of seagate. Seagate drives are THE WORST CRAP EVER.... Buy Western Digital if you want Hard Drives, but I would recommend buying SSD-s instead

Whats the difference between storing my work on Google Drive and this? I was wondering if I should get one, but my school gives us our own google drive with unlimited storage.

Underneath the pretty case is just another Seagate 🙄...I just got a WD SATA blue 2tb and enclosure for $70 cheaper.
@aajusansjunger94032 жыл бұрын
Are WDs worth it?
@marknemeth2676 ай бұрын
@@aajusansjunger9403 Yes, WD is a very good brand. Some say it's much better than Seagate but I have good experiences with that brand as well. I have two Seagate external hard drives, both 1 TB, as well as a WD my passport, also 1 TB. I might add that our computer has a WD external hard drive since around 2011 or 2012. So yeah, you can't go wrong with WD but you can't go wrong with Seagate either.
