Join my husband and I as we go through the entire Bible in a year, in conjunction with the Bible Discovery Guide and The Daily Show. This weekend we answer some of the big questions and viewer questions concerning Hosea, Joel, Amos, Obadiah, Jonah, and Micah. If you want to know your Bible better, then this is a great place to help deepen your big picture understanding.
00:49 - Is Joel referring to literal locusts? Was this prophecy fulfilled?
06:36 - What was the significance of the horns of the altar?
09:02 - What does God mean: “persons who do not know their right hand from left”?
17:46 - Why is the lack of visions and divinations a punishment? And does that apply to us today?

Hi guys! Could you tell me where is Palestine? Was this ever a country ? Did they ever have a king or leader? Did they have land borders or were they some wandering tribe? Thanks and God bless your family and ministry in Jesus Christ’s mighty name❤️🙏🏼❤️

In Matthew 11:2 when John questions if Jesus is the Messiah or do we look for another, I see John as a believer. Do you think under this physical and mental stress or torture that he struggled trying to understand why Jesus would not physically deliver him from prison since he knew Jesus Christ was working miracles. Do you see him as a believer ? Thanks, God bless you❤️🙏🏼🙏🏼

Genuine question- how do you interpret the 1 Cor 13 saying prophesies and tongues will cease, but love never will cease? Is there a timeframe? I've heard some say these stopped after the apostles died, but I understand that is not the teachings of Pentecostal and Charismatic churches.

Could the locust devouring crops in Joel have a spiritual application, like could God be revealing how our sin is exactly the same thing, and the war within us with our flesh battling against the Spirit? I thought God revealed this too me a couple years ago. Or is this spiritualizing scripture? Thanks guys God bless

Hi! I think there are definitely spiritual truths that we can draw out of the physical and spiritual realities described in Scripture. In Joel's case, the invading locusts/terrifying army are agents of God brought in to judge sin. The people's repentance then brings God's salvation and His judgment on evil nations. So, this definitely speaks to God's ultimate plan of redemption for people who are truly his! (people who repent of their sins and want to follow Him!) He is mighty to save even from the most dire circumstances!

Can I just say in Love that your explanation of Joel and the locusts made absolutely no sense. It's this yet it can also be another thing. But- no real explanation of what the scripture is saying in Context. Just saying. I'm not sure where or what your theology is coming from but please try to again answer that particular question. Thanks.

Hey there! Joel seems to be describing an actual, physical locust plague, in context - look at how he describes very specifically their known life cycles in Joel 1. However, it's also pretty clear he isn't just speaking about a locust plague! He says things like: "a powerful nation has come up against my land..." 1:6 and "The LORD utters his voice before his army, for his camp is exceedingly great; he who executes his word is powerful. For the day of the LORD is great and very awesome; who can endure it?" 2:11 and on the enemy's judgment, "I will remove the northerner far from you, and drive him into a parched and desolate land, his vanguard into the eastern sea, and his rear guard into the western sea; the stench and foul smell of him will rise, for he has done great things." 2:20 and "For behold, in those days and at that time, when I restore the fortunes of Judah and Jerusalem, I will gather all the nations and bring them down to the Valley of Jehoshaphat. And I will enter into judgment with them there..." 3:1-2 Joel was not only revealing the "why" behind the locust invasion: It was the Lord's work, to bring judgment for sin, the locusts were brought by God. It was also a future prediction about the judgment of God, and His ability to bring complete judgment. But he was undoubtedly using something physical that the people knew well, and feared, as an analogy for the complete judgment and devastation that would be wrought. So then, much like other Old Testament events and prophets who used actual physical events to reveal God's deeper meaning and to foreshadow greater things, ie. Isaiah prophesying naked, and the entire Passover event, Joel could be utilizing an actual locust plague to foreshadow and prophecy a coming judgment of God. Something being prophetically motivated does not stop it from also being an actual historical event. It can be both this and that! Hope that helps!
