What would you rather see? The unedited playthrough, or a supercut of important moments with a summary? Or both? Obviously the latter is a lot more work and a different experience as a viewer.

Unedited playthrough (except AFKs, those can go ;-) )

That's what I did with this one. I usually get up to stretch or if the kids need something

Definitely unedited. Part of the fun of watching a person play an RPG or a "Meroidvania"-style game for the first time is watching them work through puzzles and new areas, conquering "The Thousand Deaths of You"-style challenges, and growing and overcoming. Even your joys at every level-up are endeaing.

Absolutely unedited. I've been watching this on my commutes during the day and it's great.

Definitely unedited play-through just like this edit other than breaks, those can be cut out. I watch this when I have down time and it's great.

I really love the feel of adventure these old JRPGs have. Every RPG has fetch quests, but when games of this era send you out to some temple or dungeon to get something it really feels like a heroic quest. You have to manage your inventory and budget, make sure you have enough recovery items to actually make it there, find your way through the maze, and get back home. And with the RNG being as harsh as it is you might not even make it to your destination. This really feels like the heroes of old setting off on some epic journey perhaps never to return. It's really nice compared to most modern RPGs which hand-hold you every step of the way and it is so difficult to lose a battle. Here you have to explore on your own instead of just finding a dot on a built-in mini-map, and the danger is constant. Even if you are highly over-leveled for an area you can still easily die if the RNG decides to be mean, there are a number of enemies in this game which can be absolutely brutal even if the player does everything right. You've already encountered highly dangerous things like large groups of Dragon Flies and also the mud men's MP draining ability, but it gets worse. But that means even the grinding is rewarding: if you can simply button-mash your way through a game that isn't very challenging. Beating every chapter of a game with no effort and an on-the-rails plot isn't very fun. But when you finally beat that hard dungeon after a bunch of grinding & attempts, or finally figure out some big mystery after tracking down clues, then victory feels a lot more satisfying.

This might be the best and most thoughtful KZbin comment I've ever seen in my life. Couldn't agree more with the heroic aspect and embarking on a mission you may not return from. Excellent perspective!

Dangit, Lack. In that cave with the lava on the floor, you said "every single step" and you got that Bobby Brown song stuck in my head. Any kids from the 1990s probably have it in their heads now too.

I love watching these. I watched all of DW1. but I have a question: Do you have something against reviving your team for free?

My issue with Dragon Warrior II is that it's a good-to-great game for 90% of it....and then you step into the Cave to Rhone, and everything goes to hell. There are some other issues (your characters never do gain enough max HP to keep up with monster damage, and some necessary items are a super pain to find- but I'm used to NES game being hard, sometimes unfairly so), but overall it's a fun, solid RPG. Again; pre-"Road to Rhone". RTR and Rhone itself are both way over-the-line in their trolling unfairness and the sheer RNG luck it takes to even survive to the end. I beat this game when I was in junior high. I've never played it, and will never play it, again all the way through. Whereas I've defeated DWIII multiple times and DWIV twice.
@LackAttackКүн бұрын
Yeah I think the devs thought how they could make the game hard. It was really just unfair. Have to be such a high level to go through the cave, and there are pitfalls at every turn. I heard rumors about it, but it didn't ruin the game for me. Still a great title

Are you playing real Nes or emulator? Dragon quest games are pretty hard, bcos gold are really scarce, for example for some weapons i need to kill 20 to 30 monsters, and in final fantasy or golden sun i gain fast money. Old games are hard bcos you are clueless about where or what to do next, and 2nd thing is money that prevents you to proceed, good luck in beating the game mister🙂.
