Retired from LACMTA fleet in 2005
Owned and operated by Regional Transit Service ( Riverside, CA )
These buses also had their share of retrofits and modifications. These buses had ground-exhaust when delivered brand new. They were retrofitted to roof-exhaust when rehhabed around 1998/1999

Some of these buses were retired late 2005.Last bus I rode was # 2910 on Line 176 back in January 2006. FTA has set the useful life of a 40ft transit bus for 12 years or 500,000 miles before eligible of retirement. Metro likes to run their buses a little longer than the recommended 12 years.

The 1990 Flxibles had the 6L71 engine in them. LACMTA ( SCRTD at the time ) had 71 in service ( 2800-2870 ). Culver City Bus Lines also had 6L71 powered flxibles ( 7050-7059 ) as well.

The 2900s ran until around late 2005/early 2006 when the 2005 NABIs ( 7525-7599 ) were being delivered. According to the owner of this bus, it has a DD 6V92 engine. The only MTA Flxys that had DD 6L71 engines were ( # 2800-2870 )

Excellent bus man, The 6V-92TA and a METRO go perfect together! AWESOME Lil Bro! Just AWESOME! I remember the 2900's were in the Flxible sales brochures for "CLean Diesel" technology as they were delivered with Trap Oxidizers from the factory. Love it!

2900-2932 had DD6V92/Allison 2801-2870 had DD6L71/Allison 2700-2764, 2500-2649 had Cummins L10/Voith

2932 was pretty slow while in revenue service,I remember not only riding it,but,I got a chance to drive it while it was still in service with the mta,I do miss the flxibles,especially the 2500's!

This sounds cool, But I prefer The Flxible Metros that have the Cummins L10 with Voith D863 transmissions. Transpo in South Bend, IN used to have 43 Metros, 87s & 91s.

I rode in a Flxible Metro C on the 204 line on Vermont Avenue in Los Angeles. Fresno Area Express operated these buses when I moved to Fresno but after a while they were retired

Cummins L10 diesel engine with the voith D863 automatic transmission it's a great combination but you can't beat the awesome sound like the 6v 92 Detroit diesels with the v731 Allison automatic transmission

This is the Metro-D 40102-6T but is sound like them 1980 NYCT y Port Athourity fleet GM 780 coaches which have gotted the Detroit Diesel 6V71N supercharge engine Those coach all brakened down before 5 year were reach. Is crazy how this here DDEC 6V92TA is sounds like the old 6V71N power coaches plus also some GMC T8W-204 coach a well. Excellente!!!!!A+90000000Star!

before it was LACMTA it was named SCRTD back then the 1992 flxible metro 40102 6t it's a modern day version of the 870 adb buses with the 6v 92 DDEC with the v731 Allison automatic transmission I've wish to ride that bus but with the SCRTD theme like the grummanflxible 870 adb buses
