Ladakh Nomadic Festival- Celebrating Nomadic Life .

LADAKH NOMADIC FESTIVAL 2023
The Ladakh Cultural Academy, Leh organised Ladakh Nomadic Festival, showcasing complete nomadic life and culture in its pristine form. An event full of challenges for the organisers and an event against the very nature of nomadic life where they believe living In isolation rather than living a life all together as most of the human's society does. It would also be brave attempt to bring nomads from various nomadic settlements/villages across Chanthang region. Main objective behind holding such a mega event that too in such a far off area like Anley, Changthang is to celebrate the challenging Nomadic life well within their own territory, letting their younger educated nomadic youth realise the beauty and uniqueness of nomadic culture they are living in. Though, their life style looks difficult, but they enjoy this way of life to its fullest with ease and are very happy and proud of their culture. Ladakh Nomadic Festival also aims to celebrate life and glory of Changpa Heros like Ra-zhees (shepherds), Yak-zhees, Bar-zhees and Ta-zhees always happy accepting challenges in their way and dedicating their life for the survival of others in a way. Such festivals would also have lasting impression on the future generation inspiring them to adopt their own nomadic life thus contributing towards and preserving nomadic culture of Ladakh. Such initiatives can also be well considered as a pure investment in preserving this rare nomadic culture in the Indian Himalaya.

We the young generation are not taking part in our own culture which is precious and it hurts me inside out. These festivals are preserving our culture which may be not seen after 10-20 years later. This festival gave us lesson that how they are living their lives happily without any connectivity with other world. We live our nomadic life in Doksa (Home made of mud and rock) with our Cattles, Yaks, Sheeps and Goats for about 5-6months from April/May to Sept/Oct which is situated on heights far from home.❤️
