I met my future husband on August 27 and then in 2 weeks I told my mother that I was going to marry him. She didn’t believe me. We only knew each other for 9 months before we got married. I was 18 years old and he was 19 years old. That was 42 happy years ago. We’ve been blessed so very much.

Terminology. "Cordial", "diluting juice", and "squash" are similar products, although the products known as cordials tend to be thicker and stronger, requiring less syrup and more water to be blended. In British English, "cordial" refers to a sweet fruit-flavoured drink (as different from a syrup).

I’m from Northamptonshire and I call it squash, but I now live in the real North with my husband and he’s from County Durham and he says dialuty. When I first met him and called it squash he didn’t know what I was on about 😂

I actually use both terms, squash and cordial - but for two different things. Robinsons or a supermarket squash I obviously call squash. Ribena - I simply call it by it’s name, Ribena. Cordial to me however, is the fluid (usually blackcurrant for me) that I mix with coke (a coke and black), or in a black russian, or other alcoholic cocktail. A cordial is a mixer for me. As for is it a regional/area/class difference which causes people to say it differently, I was born in the north, raised all over the south, live in the north now, from a middle-class family and brought up in a very european lifestyle. Btw Mark and Rox, this podcast rules, please never stop doing it! XxX

The juice argument is a constant I'm my house 😂 I'm from Yorkshire an call diluted drink juice and my husband his from Suffolk and he calls it squash 😂😂, that's a north vs east argument in our home 😊

So I know this has nothing to do with your episode, but I have a question. Because you weigh yourself in stones, how do you tell your mate you lost a little weight? I would tell my wife I lost a few pounds, but because you don't use that as a unit of weight, you wouldn't say you lost a stone. If you lost 5 pounds, would you say you lost a fourth of a stone?
