Nice work so far. You really have to get up higher on that ladder so you don't have to work over your head, which is very unbalanced and dangerous...especially on ladders

Putting OSB on the walls. Roof will be soon. Clamps and braces, I never have enough. I build scaffolding to help. 14 ft 2 x 4's are used for ramps to slide the OSB up on the roof.

Sounds like you have a good system. The OSB is a pain on any part of the building. My shop used the 3/4" Plywood on the walls because it was given to me.

fascia boards should be end to end joined with 45 degree miters and only at a rafter junction. The soffits are classically done by notching the last rafter and nailing into the previous rafter.
@LandtoHouse
@LandtoHouse 7 жыл бұрын
Good info. Thank you. So far the soffit and fascia are doing well. It would have been nice to have cut a 45 on those fascia like you say.

I am building a kayak shed and I only have the trusses and roof to do. I am by myself too so I have to be very cautious when on the ladder. I fell from a ladder a few months ago and ended up in the hospital for 2 days with a collapsed lung ,fractured rib and collar bone. I have a buddy that can help if it gets too tough.

Hey let me ask you folks sense I am by myself and I am in my so called golden years weight is an issue for putting up ladders by my self. What do you think if I made my ladders with 1x4 for the rails and 2x4 for the cross members and even glue it and screw it to make it sturdy. Weight is the issue what do you think?
@LandtoHouse
@LandtoHouse 7 жыл бұрын
+D Kat I would use a router to inset the steps and then use metal rods along the steps if needed. I have seen attic ladders like this. Probably not pine wood if I had to guess. Something stronger.

Should've nail or screw the 2x4 or 2x6 plate first and then using metal hangers to put in the blocks in. Nail or screw the outter plate.,then you're done.😁😁😁😁😁. Or better yet,nail or screw the first and last block,then put the rest in using metal hangers.

You have absolutely no support at the center of you gable end extensions (where your ladder meets). Your ladder will definitely sag with a snow load.

How do I post videos on KZbin? I'm doing a major remodel on a geodesic dome home. It was never finished and left to rot. As a result, most of the structure had to be re-framed. I would say at least 75 percent re-framed when all said and done. It's a double dome home. One 50' diameter and one 20' diameter with a pop out and a massive raised deck. The small dome had to be removed due to heavy rot as well as the deck and pop out. The larger diameter dome roof had some rot so I replaced a little more than half of the triangles one triangle at a time. My wife and I are doing all the work with our own hands. No hired help.

That seems like a very ambitious project! It would go faster with help but I understand doing the work yourself too. To post a youtube video you just have to have an account and click the gray upload arrow on the top right of the screen. It is very easy to do.

@@LandtoHouse Way to go Land To House ! My name is Lisa and I am a beginner / intermediate woodworker. If I made videos of the stuff I have waded through in order to get my projects done I would be on prime time comedian network. All beginners go through this stuff....like I have said several times.....you have to really love woodworking in order to become an experienced craftperson....you learn from your mistakes !!! Remember Jesus Christ himself was a woodworker !!! You keep strong and carry on my brother !!! Love and may Jehovah richly bless all that your hands set forth to do. Check out this scripture Bro Isaiah 65:22 " They will BUILD HOUSES and live in them, and they will PLANT VINEYARDS and eat their fruitage,.... Love and God bless from our family to yours....Lisa, Joey, Jesse
