Ladismith, Klein Karoo Western Cape

Ladismith is a town and agricultural centre in the western Klein Karoo region of South Africa's Western Cape province.
It is situated adjacent to a series of fertile, irrigated valleys, at an elevation of 550 m above sea level, at the southern base of the Swartberg. It is currently included in the southern Kannaland Local Municipality. The nearest towns are Calitzdorp to the east, Vanwyksdorp and Riversdale to the south and Laingsburg to the north.
In 1852 the farm Elandsvlei was set aside for the town, and it became a municipality in 1862. It was named after Lady Juana María Smith, the wife of Sir Harry Smith, one of two towns in South Africa named after her, the other being Ladysmith in KwaZulu-Natal.

Looks very nice but it could be a short ✂️ cut cut to become.brain dead. People need more than to sit and watch the clouds role by. On the other hand who am I to say that Brutus is not an honourable man ? Savvy? Catch? Can I rest my case? It might be more life stimulating to live on Pitcairn Island. . Look them up. Red Matters, G'day to you too, mate. I live in a city here in South Africa, and many of my holidays were spent in this beautiful little town called Ladismith. My grandparents resided just outside of town and my uncle had a hardware store in the mid town. The famous Towerkop in the Swartberg mountain range has always kept watch over Ladismith and its inhabitants, and nature lovers revel in the beautiful surrounds. Ladismith has a well-run junior and high school, as well as a private school, and many of SA's top poets, writers, adventurers and musicians grew up in and around Ladismith and furthered their studies in the fields of science, medicine, literature, music and many more. Red, people from Ladismith do not just sit and watch the clouds go by and develop closed minds - your arrogance and disrepect are uncalled for. If you think Pitcairn Island does better, please read about the Pitcairn stance of education ..perhaps théy can visit Ladismith and learn from them. I have been to Australia 4 times and have never dreamt of insulting inhabitants of the little towns there. Mate, your ignorance, intersperced by your arrogance by clearly regarding Ladismithers as simpletons, is just rude. For those who would want to visit Ladismith, please make use of the myriad of quality bed-and- breakfast businesses to choose from. Thank you Ladismith for helping install in me kindness and compassion, the importance of looking after nature, and for reminding me what is truly important in life. And Red, now stop watching the clouds and open your Ozzy mind.

Ipso facto for those wanting to visit Ladismith be aware of the high crime rate- 257,79 per thousand residents so 1 in four chance of being a victim. 1536 crimes registered from a population of 5958 + -. Property crime one in 28 with high sexual offences ( 40). Domestic violence in the western Cape is horrifically high. The mayor of the municipalty governing Ladismith was removed due to sexual offences.SERIAL rapist Herman Harper lived in Ladismith where he was active and was arrested. I could not find a single famous person from Ladismith that you alluded to other than the notorious Harper. That's life in a small town where the majority watch the clouds go by.....blissfully unaware but good people nevertheless. Pitcairn Island had its crime time but are largely free of crime nowadays . I am still waiting on my passport,but I got very,very sick with colon cancer,I had surgery last year,I have another doctor's appointment in May,to see if the cancer came back. God is good all the time. I am still in Dallas,Texas,hoping to come back soon. I am very,very disappointed in the Embassy in Washington they are so rude when I call,they don't know how to talk to you. Other people told me the same thing about the Embassy in Washington. Ek is gebore en het opgegroei in Ladismith. Ek is nou 75 jaar oud. Jammer maar julle het die siel van die plek heeltemal gemis , nie ontdek nie Ee n van die tannies wat julle onderhoud mee gevoer het, sy is my tannie. Daai dorp ,hoe klein ook al het ń baie ryk geskiedenis, maar julle praat met die verkeerde mense. Praat met die boorlinge. As u weer so ń project beoog, doen dit in diepte en opreg. Dankie
