Glad to see you did another SMK video and a song that hasn’t been used before that I’ve seen. Great job showing just how this couple went from a work partnership to a life long love partnership into a marriage one. I’m glad the SMK videographers have stepped up and kept us who have become shut ins because of COVID-19 entertained. Making as many new SMK videos as they possibly can but still keeping up their top quality videos for us. Thank you all for doing this for use that need a couple of minutes out of our reality and into a better time in our lives remembering one of our favorite tv shows. That went off the air way too soon because of Kate’s battle with Breast Cancer. Kate did her very best hiding the fact she had it by battling it all by herself. Cause back in the 80’s if the word got out she had breast cancer the set would have been shut down from the moment word got out of her diagnosis. You have to remember SMK was Kate’s baby that was being produced by her production company she started with her second husband before their divorce in the middle of the series before her diagnosis. The diagnosis she would never have gotten is Bruce Boxleitner didn’t get the flu and production had to close down for a day letting Kate to go back to sleep then waking up suddenly after having a dream that she needed to go and get a mammography where she found out she had a start of a cancer cells that needed to be taken out ASAP before they spread or gotten any bigger. The only person she told was the show producer who changed her work schedule for that week and they taped her scenes for that episode and checked her into a LA hospital under an assumed name. Then after the lumpectomy took her to her house to get some rest. All the SMK staff was told was Kaye had the flu. That’s why we didn’t see much of Kate after their honeymoon. She was on set everyday but with going through radiation treatments daily and only taking IBUPROFEN for her pain and not being able to do the strenuous close stunts her and Bruce were noted to do. Which was hard on Kate not to be able to do like at the beginning for SMK where she was doing those kinds of stunts in a boot cast. The set should have been shut down for 6 weeks giving time for Kate’s ankle to heal right. But Kaye wouldn’t hear of it cause if the set was shut down for that amount of time she would have lost her hand picked crew she worked so hard to find. Instead after every take she went and eliminated her leg and put ice on her ankle. So Kate had to be in a lot of pain and the radiation must have been really hard on her for her to take a backseat those last few episodes. She did a great job on keeping a lid on her cancer diagnosis she couldn’t even tell Bruce what was going on with her or her best friend Jaclyn Smith who was there for her the following year when they found out they didn’t get all of the cancer the first time around. But the second time around she had to have partial mastectomy. Also had to believe Kate while tapping “Charlie’s Angles” and SMK did it with a hole on her heart something that wasn’t found out until one of her movie of the weeks she did after SMK. After tapping one late night she wasn’t feeling well and was taken to a ER where they found the birth defeat and did open heart surgery to repair it. Kate is one hell of a woman to go through all of that and not make any of the tabloids she came out with the real life what went on in with what went on with her breast cancer diagnosis during the last couple of months of SMK. She wanted come back once she had her strength back and give the SMK fans a proper ending since they thought there was going to be a season 5 in the fall. But once Kate got her strength back and was ready to do SMK again to give us a proper ending she went to Bruce and asked him to go to his friends at CBS and ask to do at least a movie of the week. Bruce told Kate too much time had gone by and no one would have remembered SMK. Bruce must not have known about the world wide SMK Nation that’s out here that to this day would like to see what Lee and Amanda are doing after all these years. How did you know or find all this out? I heard Bruce talking about this by accident in one of his B5 panel Q & A.. but it was hard to catch everything he was saying because it was watching through my phone..glad you verified the story..and had always wondered what really happened and why they never tried to do a season 5..now I know...that's too bad cause I think it would have been good..

How did manage to hear about this or find this out? I overheard Bruce telling this by accident..it was one of those interviews of the B5 panels Q &A's..and somebody from audience asked him about SMK..and he told them all this..but I couldn't hear everything he was saying well because of how it was..and I was listening with my phone. But this verifies his story..thank you. I always wondered what really happened and why they never picked up season 5. It's too bad too..i think it would have been worth it..

I agree! yes this show went off way too soon, but as you said, with KJ's battle with Breast Cancer she couldn't continue. Cudo's to her, she's a true professional in every sense of the word. No one can't ever take that away from her.
