I m a fan of Van Cleef & Arpel. Really appreciate yr sense of art bring into watch. It's an art piece to me, instead of simply a watch actually.

A decadent celebration of a decadent art. I hope someone will invest this much one day into the promotion of a lavishly nurturing family life and the crafting of emotionally healthy children.

We conquer our demons and destroy the villains so the arts may flourish. Its take constant reflection as individuals and as a society, to prevent us from becoming decadent.

@@noelfalls1240 ...yet obviously we fail. We value the symbolic and ultimately worthless well beyond the real and intrinsically valuable, like family and healthy children. The very definition of a decadent world.

@@annacarter6559 yes indeed. We do and have failed. I certainly agree with your opinion that better things can be done with 5-10 million dollars. I must push back slightly and say you seem a bit pessimistic about the value of high art and what goes into it. The old trickle down value adding to the economy. The artisans and promoters make money off of their skill set. The sale of this product could potential yield long lasting benefits to a dozen families or more! Hell if you think about it, its probably way more than that. The mining of the minerals, the jewelers that shape the precious jewels. Goldsmiths, artisans, the janitors at the various facilities. So yes, it could symbolically wreak of decadence. But beneath that decadent facade, the value of meaningfull employment to dozens of families and individuals; I feel is the true beauty with in the art.

I think I am talking about society’s value system. Where a bouncing anorexic or an overpriced trinket are valued more than a set of parents who raised a set of happy functional children. That is what requires true art
