I won't lie, I do think it's better to have Drag Kings in their own separate show. I don't think Drag Kings are less valid, but I don't trust RuPaul's production to judge Drag Kings fairly when competing against Queens, it would be better to have a King-specific show with a King as a main judge and challenges specific to Drag Kings so they feel more comfortable and not added in as tokens, which is what most likely would happen, considering how the production does things.

If different drag performers were on drag race, I wonder if it could b started in an international season 1st. The calibre of diverse drag is only recognised on less-popular competition shows. Kings have won various times even as a minority on the season. I think it’s so possible the biggest drag show can have diverse drag & B fair. Maybe not now but eventually.

Dragula created a platform for their drag show. Why can’t Drag Kings create their own as well. Wanting so bad to be on a drag queens show, just makes it seem like drag kings are less valid if is not together with the other one. Drop the inferiority complex and create your own show.

Thank you for talking about the “drama” made around Nymphia’s choice of accent in the challenge. As a first-generation Korean American fan, I’ve never understood why on the main season of DR whenever an East/SE Asian queen “puts on” an accent, it’s seen as offensive/taboo to everyone.. who isn’t Asian. This reminded me of the criticism Plastique Tiara encountered during her season when she used an “Asian accent” although she was born and raised in Vietnam. I’m just tired of the policing Asian queens have to go through when reclaiming these stereotypes, when it seems other POC queens do not experience this on the show.

Lady Bunny has always been outspoken. RuPaul is not beyond criticism and he is earning them these days. Yes, we use gas. But we are not fracking, which is not needed as there are plenty of sources for oil. Fracking happens cuz that company doesn’t want to drill elsewhere, but here where it is allowed. So, RuPaul’s ‘do you use gas?’ response is pure deflection. He doesn’t have to frack. And that is Fact!

Drag is very wasteful... the makeup, costumes, textiles, props, sets, packaging, shipping, a lot of disposable and one time use items, etc. Not to mention queens flying around the world for gigs. I'm not from the US myself, so I can't talk about the situation there. What I can talk about is the situation in Groningen, the Netherlands, where I'm from. Below Groningen is the biggest gas field in Europe and it has been pumped out of the ground since the 60s. Nowadays, this is an area with a lot of earthquakes. In case you don't know: because of how flat of a country the Netherlands is, earthquakes are a very rare occurrence. Like, they should be non-existent. But people have been experiencing earthquakes since the 90s in Groningen and thought it might be the removal of the gas was seen as ridiculous and flat out denied. We now know that the earthquakes are caused by it. But there has been so much damage done. Our homes aren't build for earthquakes because, again, they are not supposed to happen here. Meaning a lot of the houses that have been here for hundreds of years are badly damaged and some are deemed unlivable. But the people living in these houses can't leave. They can't sell their homes because they are basically worthless and they can't buy homes because many still have a mortgage on the place they live in. And there is so little accountability being taken place by either the government or the company fracking the gas. There was a time were the government claimed they would decrease the fracking, but the numbers confirm they haven't really done so and in fact they announced to increase again last October. There have been a lot of ongoing projects here focusing on green energy to make living without gas more possible and a lot of homes here in the area either go hybrid or completely gas free. Personally, I live in public housing in a home that is actually completely gas free. I cook induction and have like 14 solar panels on my home. This was all included with the house when I moved in. Green energy is possible and besides maybe not getting my wok hot enough for a proper stir fry, living like this is pretty comfortable. So no, RuPaul. I don't use gas. Stop telling people to smell their finger when you yourself reek of bullshit.

When it comes to Nymphia using the exaggerated asian accent, I think it is ridiculous for anyone to get offended. Who are you getting offended on behalf of, Asian people? @ManjitSingh-dh2bg 6 ай бұрын
Hi I respect your opinion but why that accent was not appropriate is because there is difference between in being an asian immigrant and Asian american. Yes queens can reclaim sterotypes but as for the world bigotry is still alive. Asian Americans can do accent in an act and can switch back to their normal accent out of the act which is nor the case for Asian immigrants who has to face discrimination for the way they speak. In a way these queens invite others to laugh at an accent which can happen outside the show. And in a non progressive area this can even go worse. I hope you can understand and this is coming from someone with an Indian accent.

It has both queens and kings on there and theu do a very good job criticize them fairly and showcasing everyone's looks and talent. Although it's based on horror so the queens/kings on there have very different styles and while drag race is more pg dragula is more dark and gory. But it depics drag kings really well alongside with drag queens

I think drag kings could adapt to almost any challenge. The real issue comes in with adequate **judging.** The big issue I would have with drag kings on drag race is that the judging panel would not be able to judge adequately without some major changes to the line up. They already make incredibly questionable decisions with the queens, I could only imagine the “critiques” Michelle would have.
@juliagoolia72
@juliagoolia72 6 ай бұрын
@@psio4213 exactly. They have changed and adapted over time, but I still believe Michelle and even Ru still have core beliefs on what “true” drag is. I mean look how long it took them to change the lyrics of the theme song. They are growing, but I think the public acceptance and appetite for different versions of the art form of drag is changing faster. They would definitely need to add a new judge or two!

the drag kings on drag race conversation is so tired. drag kings can look just as fabulous, sexy, campy and over the top as a drag queens. people seem to think male impersonation means dressing as dirty and rugged and masculine as possible when the reality is most drag kings wear sequin, sparkly clothes and mountains of make up. Dragula has had drag kings on and they always make it to the end, it’s time for drag kings to be included. so much rich queer history and tradition is being left out of the conversation because people keep changing the definition of what drag on this show is.

I agree that there is just as much work and fabulousness involved, however I'm not sure that they would get a fair treatment by the rpdr production if it was mixed. Or have a King vs Queen mini series where they compete in similar but not same categories. Kind of like in the ball on s13(?) where we had wedding gowns but with animal print/american flag colors, or do famous couples like Cher and Sunny. Something to accommodate both type of artists.

Sapphira was pretty crunchy in the challenge. Q and Plane were head and shoulders above the rest. I feel badly for the "vs the World" winners. First Blu Hydrangea was left out of a tour with the other UK RPDR winners. Now Rajah is left out of the Canada's RPDR winners photo. These queens invest exorbitant financial resources, as well as blood sweat and tears to be marginalized. Yes Rajah O'Hara makes her own clothes but it's the principle. It's not fair or cool. Not calling out this stunt is going to open the lipsyncs up to a lot of uncertainty as to what's appropriate and what's not. Can somebody "drop" a string of beads? Toss a wig into somebody's face? I know people want to see drag kings compete in a similar format, but it wouldn’t be fair amongst queens. Kings deserve their own show. Because, let's say one king gets casted. Well, then all the pressure is on that one king to represent drag kings, but only his style is bejng represented. Cast 2 kings? Well then they would be constantly compared to each other, even if they have different styles. Add more kings, and it would probably turn into kings vs queens (which honesty could make for an interesting show), and then that reduces the representation of different drag *queen* styles too. And, the judges do not have enough knowledge & experience on masc makeup, body sculpting, fashion etc. to judge them fairly. We need to push for a separate drag king race.

Drag Race would definitely have to revamp criteria for judging if they combine both Drag Kings and Queens. If artistic expression of genders is going to blend, both Drag Kings and Queens repped, then just throw out judging altogether and call it a Drag Artists Showcase. Let’s also not crap all over RuPaul all of the time. He has done a lot for drag. He’s not perfect, but people usually bring him up just to say horrible things. (And no, I don’t agree with fracking.)

I love drag kings and they do deserve to be represented more, IDK if RuPaul and production would treat them fairly like the other drag queens or not. I can totally see a drag king getting eliminate like 3rd or 4th. I can see Ru being like "see we're so inclusive, we had a drag king on Drag Race! (I did send her home early tho but at least we were able to say we're inclusive to all drag performers, now where's my Emmy?)"

If you listen to RuPaul in interviews, he's very clearly driven by money. He's pretty open about it. He's first and foremost a business man. I think people conflate celebrities' behind the scenes personality with the one they portray on TV, and that needs to stop. I'd be all for a show in with drag kings competed on their own or with drag queens. The RPDR concept would work with just drag kings competing against each other, but you would need to rework almost all of the show for kings and queens competing against each other. All of the challenges would need to be performance based, cutting out the fashion element. The scripted performances would have to be rethought to account not knowing how many kings or queens are competing, as well as any lip synchs. You'd be better off creating a new franchise for that.

I wanna share my opinion on Rupaul’s Alstora. I think it’s a great idea and as for the controversy, I think it’s good to have those books because 1. No form of speech should be limited-including bad books 2. Ppl can read them and learn from history 3. They can include multiple POV 4. What is bad is subjective-most times-and I DO NOT agree with Hitler books or anything like that, but those books can offer a lot more history and context and opinions no one thought of or a POV that no one thought of for themselves and that’s powerful

It's so important to know the enemy so you can fight them efficiently. I agree with you. But since the main public is the queer community, if I was in charge of that I would have created a seal or a category that acknowledges that as also relevant for strategical purposes instead of just "controversial" cause that's just too wide.

i think Drag Kings should have their own show. because Drag Queens usually wear such big and extravagant outfits and gowns, so comparing that to what we see on men weather gay or straight, it can be hard to stick out when they are competing against queens who can wear bigger and brighter things. i'm not saying drag kings couldn't, but it'd be hard to do it without looking underwhelming or leaving the king part of it. so if they had a show/season to themselves, they could easily stick out in their own ways. and i could be wrong, but having a season for them would be beneficial since we could see if they could do well look wise and my mind could be changed.

If WOW wanted to include drag kings on Drag Race they would have done it by now. And, if they thought a drag king competition show would be successful, they would have also already done that. They're all about making money and have likely done the math and don't see it as something that would be profitable. Furthermore, who would host/lead this drag king franchise? RuPaul is the self proclaimed queen of drag with more than four decades in the game; who is the king of drag? There isn't one.

I can understand both sides. Dragula ha been having drag kings since season 3 and it's being amazing. We have already had glimpses of drag king in Drag Race and it always worked fine (I personally think Milk's Werk Room RuPaul look is amazing and there's nothing you can say that will change my mind - okay, maybe have a better bald prosthetics). On the other hand, Drag Race is heavily influenced by America's Next Top Model and drag pageants, while Dragula was literally a competition inside Boulet's party, that was born in the nightlife and then reached television. Today things are more flexible, but there are still very stiff and strict views on what drag queens must do to be considered "good drag". We have had very modern and fashionable winners in US franchise, that go beyond the "female impersonation", but never fully realized club kid and androgynous performers. For drag kings to be featured on Drag Race US, they would need to change a lot of their mindset. We've had 16 seasons and 8 All Stars seasons and there wasn't a big girl winning YET (and this is not about talent and competence, because there were!); not so long ago RuPaul was saying women in the show was like taking steroids in the Olympics, we only had an openly trans woman winning at All Stars season 6, and season 14 of regular seasons. We have two asian winners and they're both THE SAME PERSON - Raja. We still didn't have a cis woman competing on Drag Race US, while Drag Race Germany crowned the first winner a cis woman. Drag Race Thailand has a big girl and a trans woman winning season 1 and 2. Drag Race España All Stars just crowned an androgynous performer. Drag kings should be on Drag Race, but not THIS Drag Race. We need an open minded RuPaul wanting more than just money and petty cat fights.

A lot or arguments about putting Drag kings in Drag race sounds like they don’t trust a show centered around Drag Kings would do well on it’s own merits so it’s better to use a already successful show. I'd be afraid to have Ru judge kings at this point. Bring in a legend like Mo B Dick to co-judge for a season. If they could judge Dawn, a self proclaimed Drag Thing, they can figure out Kings. I literally just don't trust Ru Paul with it after all that's come out.

Just think the queens are scared to have the floor torn up under them like Landon and Throb did on Dragula. Male actors have been played on snatch game and are written into rusicals etc. I think they have probably reached out but many of the top tier kings say no. They know they are gonna be looked at with a magnifying glass and judged pretty harshly.
