Here’s some symbolism and info: The video was inspired by “The Color of Pomegranates” (1969) by Armenian director Sergei Parajano. The film is about an artists life from birth to death. The guy banging his head on the pillow (airbag) is the guy at the end in his car. The guy on the horse in the beginning is Death but is showing Gaga that it’s not her time yet, so he leads her to the church/paramedics. 2:36 Gaga’s floating to heaven, but the paramedic pulls her down. Also in the same scene, the lady holding the mirror and reflecting the light on Gaga’s face is the paramedic at the end checking her pupils (the mirror is supposed to be the flashlight). 3:17 the lady holding the snake symbolizes the Caduceus, aka the winged rod with the twisting serpent paramedic symbol at 4:53. 3:17 if you compare the painting to the last scene of the music video, you can see it’s almost exactly the same in terms of placement. The characters, cars, theater, etc. are almost exactly the same. 3:40 the gold thing behind her is an ambulance gurney. 4:56 this scene symbolizes how people of color who have been severely impacted by the accident are being ignored by the paramedics. Meanwhile at 4:57 the rich person in the Lamborghini who seems to have gotten out without a scratch is surrounded by them. The lady holding the white mummy is also the lady at the end holding the corpse of her partner. In the Marry The Night music video, she says “When I look back on my life, It's not that I don't want to see things exactly as they happened. It's just that I prefer to remember them in an artistic way. And truthfully the lie of it all is much more honest because I invented it.” All I could think of for now :)!

I love how the “LG Life’s Good” ad is not just obvious product placement. It’s as if she stares at it and somehow finds comfort knowing that things are not always going to be the way they are right now. Also it can also be a “sine” from above -(L)ady (G)aga, Life’s Good”. Curiously enough Chromatica III, the track that precedes Sine From Above closes the video.

EXPLAINED: She didn't have her pills (antipsychotics) and her thoughts told her to bike into traffic (Lyrics: "Keep repeating self-hating phrases, almost like I have no choice"). She bikes into traffic and causes an accident where other people get hurt (as well as herself). In the afterlife, she is brought back by the paramedics (the man who pulls her down before letting her assent into heaven). Upon awakening she repeatedly apologizes for what happened and reveals that she did not have her pills to keep the thoughts away. Based on her post on Instagram, this represents a lived reality of battling thoughts that tell you to harm yourself. Evidently, there is a lot of biblical imagery going on as well, including reference to two Armenian films, but the crux of the narrative is that of attempted suicide.

there's so much more to it, because why would she have to be brought back to a reality of suffering, and why does she have to believe she wants to stay there ? and then ''LG'' which besides the brand also stands for ''lady gaga'' saying that life's good even though for her it isnt... she's definitly way more intelligent than we think... she talks so much about not being a celebrity but this world viewing her as one... about not being seen for who she really is, and this world wanting celebrities to show a fake happy life...

Since the song is about her antipsychotic medication "Pop a 911" being a metaphor for "Pop a pill". The idea of her medication being her savior & centering source in moments where she's having a trauma response/episode. This is a genius representation of how the brain takes in information, processes it and tries to make sense of it all. (even if it doesn't make sense at first glance or to other people) It's not until the end that you see what really happened and the roles each character in the dream/hallucination played.

This song is actually about an antipsychotic medication named olanzapine that saved her life (my biggest enemy is me, pop a 911) when she was rushed to the E.R due to a psychotic break in relation to mental illness. The same thing happened to me and I had to be put on the same exact medication, she stated how her whole body went numb, she could do nothing but scream, it’s terrifying and nobody should ever have to experience a psychotic break, it is absolutely horrifying and indescribable when you’re completely ripped from reality, feeling like you’re trapped in an endless void, you feel like everything is out to hurt or kill you, becoming completely and absolutely emotionally blunted unable to express any feelings, completely dissociated from reality, unable to come to terms with anything around you, completely lost. There is truly nothing more traumatic than a psychotic break. Recovery time is different for everyone, it can take as little as 1 week to over a year. I am just happy I survived and am still alive to inform people and share my experience about this grave and perilous state of mind, to let people know how crucial mental health actually is.

Thank you for this response. This video actually triggered a small (but manageable) panic attack in me. I guess I realize now why I had the reaction I did. It's just a little too close to home. I have not had psychotic breaks but I did go through a drug-induced depression that lasted over 4 months. It was a complete living nightmare for me. I was misdiagnosed with BiPolar Type 2 and was put on Vraylar. Ugh, thank god I was able to get back to my original meds and back to myself again. God bless and love sent your way!

It has left me speechless, it could be revealing and I reflect that they are really the consequences of trauma however small or large it is, I like how it makes the viewer not know what it is until everything makes sense in the end, I can intuit how a trauma can really be described, the person censors it for being too strong for his mind and changes it for a less painful story to survive. It's amazing. She really and her team are amazing.

The music video is referencing two things in arthouse cinema: (1) the films of Sergey Parajanov, the great Armenian director (you could see two posters of his films at the minute 4.08 of the music video), "The Color of Pomegranates" (hence the pomegranates at the beginning of the video) and "Ashik Kerib", and (2) "El topo", a Mexican film directed by Alejandro Jodorowsky (see the reference at the minute 4.11 of the music video), it's a surrealistic film about a gunfighter embarking on a quest on a horse (hence the man on a horse at the beginning). Most of the imageries of the video are taken from those two references.

The references to (and appreciation for) Armenian films, the obvious character parallels, the social commentary of the final scenes (POC and/or poor people getting no attention, "rich" or "famous" people swarmed by paramedics), the intensity of the story, it's phenomenal. So there are really only two things you need to know to understand the video. Gaga's personal backstory behind the song itself and the 1969 Armenian Film "The Color of Pomegranates." While the film inspired this video heavily, it also inspired other popular films such as Hereditary, Midsommar, and many others. You can watch it for free on youtube. Even if you only watch the first 10 minutes, you'll have a better understanding of the origins of the majority of the imagery used in the video. Gaga talks about her intentions behind the lyrics in her interview with Zane Lowe for Apple Music.

After a star is born I went away, but this diffidently brought me back. Like me she has dealt with or does deal with mental illness. An accident happened a she got a really quick flash of her surroundings before she went under. And the video was her brain processing what she saw in that moment twisted. She obviously had a big hand in producing and directing this. There was someone who anallizedvthe video that said the headdresses were designed by some famous lady designer. Kudos to lady Gaga and koudos to you guys for bringing me back to. I was not on her bandwagon but am back. I want to see her in more movies. Someone has to write something for her like Bradley cooper did or she needs to do it herself. I don’t know what goes on with her creative process. But, to me it just looks like it never dries up. Entire video explanation : 1) Black Horseman in a White Desert - This signifies the poster for New Mexico Gaga saw before the accident. He may also signify Death or her body luring her deeper in her mind. 2) The Red Mask - This is the blood from the accident. 3) Bike with Pomegranates - The first real element in Gaga's vision. Most probably the victim of the collision. Pomegranates simultaneously signify life and death. 4) The Red Anklet - Gaga's broken foot in real life. 5) Walking to the White Chapel - This is the movie poster Gaga saw. This can also signify the deepest recesses of her mind, protecting her from trauma. 6) Pillow Man - Another victim of the accident who crashed on his steering wheel. 7) Black Girl in Blue - The first spectator to the accident. Most likely the one who called 911. 8) Two Yellow Men Holding a Door - These are two firemen holding the car door to get Gaga out of the mangled vehicle. Their hats have '911' written on them in roman numerals. The yellow men were blindfolded because the firemen wore black goggles. 9) Woman Holding a White Body - A woman holding a victim who got hit by the car. The white body even has red lace signifying blood. 10) Additional Three People in Blue - Additional spectators filming the whole thing. 11) Yellow Man Mixing a Cauldron - This is a fireman and a smoking car wreckage. 12) The Latin Guy in Black and the Black Mary in White - These are the paramedics trying to save Gaga's life. 13) The Spinning Umbrella - The paramedics descending via a helicopter. 14) The Purse with the Picture of the Doll - This signifies the pills that would have made her stable. Did she cause the accident? 15) The Latin Guy Strangling the White Mummy - The paramedic was checking for a pulse. 16) The Black Mary Covering the Pillow Man with a Sheet - This was the paramedic covering the victim with a thermal blanket. 17) A Man with Dog Ears whose Face is Being Covered by the Latin Man - The paramedic giving oxygen to one of the victims. 18) The Black Mary Flashing a Mirror on Gaga - The paramedic was flashing her flashlight on Gaga's pupil's looking for consciousness. Gaga in the dreamscape is her consciousness. 19) Gaga Floating Away with a Rose - This signifies Gaga's consciousness/life leaving her body. She was even wearing a halo. 20) The Latin Guy Pulling Her with a Rope - The paramedic gave her CPR. You can even see a brief flash of the real world as she comes crashing down. 21) The Rope - It was the tourniquet used on Gaga's foot. 22) Latin and Gaga Mouth-to-Mouth Action - This was CPR, mouth-to-mouth resuscitation. 23) Yellow Man on Ladder Sprinkling Rose Petals - This is a fireman repairing the movie sign. The petals were sparks. 24) Men in Blue Masks - These are policemen. They even have the bird sign in their hats. 25) The Blue Streamers Waving in the Wind - This was the fire hydrant spewing water. 26) The Peacock - This represented Armenia in the Armenian Film Festival signage. 27) The Black Mary Holding a Snake - This is the snake in the cross logo of the paramedics. 28) Gaga in Yellow Spasming - This is Gaga's body rejecting the medication/treatment. 29) The Mural - This was the scene of what really happened. Gaga is now getting closer to surfacing to reality. 30) The Latin Guy Touching Her Heart Area - The paramedic giving her heart pumps and CPR. 31) Gaga in Black Floral Outfit - This is Gaga being put in a full-body brace. The curtain also might have fallen in the background to signify her impending death, the body bag. This is why, as a last-ditch effort, the paramedics used the defibrillator. 32) The Box - This is the defibrillator. 33) The Virgin Sacrifice - As dream world and real world collide, the vision concludes in a terrifying sacrificial scene as the pain comes rushing in. It's interesting that the knife that kills her in the dream world is the current of electricity that brings her to life in the real world. 34) 'I didn't have my pills!' - This suggests that she caused the accident because she wasn't stable because she did not have her medication. 35) LG Advertisement - 'Life is good.' Ironic, isn't it?

This also speaks about the systematic racism, the woman who holds the man that is death looks that is an immigrant without money while the man who is receiving the attention is a white with a lot of money ( in the fantasize he's represented like a Lord ), also the woman that represents the Virgin is black ( And she's holding a mirror representing Gaga following the light and he's ( Jesus ) is trying save her In the scene of the red outfit she's is behind the man in the horse ( the death ) and Jesus behind she trying to stop her ( Sorry for my English ) ❤️ Great reaction guys

i found this comment under the official video "This song is actually about an antipsychotic medication named olanzapine that saved her life in relation to mental illness (my biggest enemy is me, pop a 911) when she was rushed to the E.R due to a psychotic break. The same thing happened to me and I had to be put on the same exact medication, she stated how her whole body went numb, she could do nothing but scream, it’s terrifying and nobody should ever have to experience a psychotic break, it is absolutely horrifying and indescribable when you’re completely ripped from reality, feeling like you’re trapped in an endless void, you feel like everything is out to hurt or kill you, becoming completely and absolutely emotionally blunted unable to express any feelings (I can’t see me cry this is the end) this is also why she portrays a robotic tone in her voice, completely dissociated from reality, unable to come to terms with anything around you, completely lost. There is truly nothing more traumatic than a psychotic break. Recovery time is different for everyone, it can take as little as 1 week to over a year. I am just happy I survived and am still alive to inform people and share my experience about this grave and perilous state of mind, to let people know how crucial mental health actually is."

The whole video is pretty much her choosing between life and death (the box symbolizes death, and the dolls are life. That’s why the mummy’s doll was put in a box) everytime she chooses to rise up to heavens, emergency workers pull her back on so on. Even tho she wanted death (cuz of her psychological health, and not her “not taking any pills”) she was kinda forced back to life

in her mV 911 , i think their movie references were : Zorro - as the death angel / one of the 4 horse men apocalypse Bird Box ( Netflix) - where she walks blind folded Jumanji 3 ( the next level ) - where she walked and like having a sun bathing moment it series - bike Colour of pomegranates - the church , symbols, all all her past mv, all the weird things happening. The movie title was in the cinema scene ( Armenia Film Festival ) The peculiar Children - where she was floating but the paramedic guy pull her down the ground.

The story of this video makes a deep sense. What happens in the clip, the same thing happened in Armenia in Nagorny Karabakh, war ,which ended on November 9.911. Five thousand young boys from their were killed. Turkey intervened in this war, a man dressed in black and Russia is a woman in white. Lady Gaga was Armenia

UR FACES ARE SOOOOOOOOO CUTE TO WATCHHHHH!! I was confused also when I first watched the video, then in a few more watches, I was able to slowly understand the messages in the short film. I personally think it's one of Gaga's best videos in her career. Anyways, I love the both of u!! Please keep on doing Gaga videos for fans and the locals haha. 😘💖

Amazing video! It was inspired by the Armenian art film “the color of pomegranates” by Sergei Paradjanov from 1969. The movie is unusual and filled with a lot of pictures that representing the Armenian culture. Also, the scene of her flying tied with a rope is from the 1963 movie “8 1/2” by Federico Fellini, an Italian art film. All the symbols that you’ve seen are true. The thing is that everything that was happening in her mind was her making it look beautiful. If you’ll watch the cideo again you would see that she was literally creating the whole accident scene through her mind but in a more beautiful way. If that’s the water hose, paramedics, the nurse, and even the painting of the accident painted on the wall. It’s wonderful! I love it so much! Also, great reaction video, you guys! I really am a big fan of your channel! Putting my Paws Up for you from Israel! ❤️

There’s a great interview in Billboard Magazine this month and Lady Gaga briefly mentions this “mini movie”. From what I understand it was something that happened to her, in real life. There’s another great interview on Apple Music with Zane Lowe and she talks about Chromatica in its entirety. She talks about this song being about her mental health and having a complete breakdown. “Keep my dolls inside diamond boxes” is a direct reference to the medications she takes for depression and other mental health issues. I think if you watch the interview on Apple Music and read the article on Billboard.com it will explain this in detail and you will have a much better understanding of what’s going on. Great reaction! You two are awesome!!
