When you struggle with trauma, your mind goes off and disconnects from reality, “reality and dreams can interconnect”. Her mind tries to creat a “ happier” place even though she had the accident, ex. Apples - blood, that guy at the beginning on the pillow actually crashed, etc. I think that’s all about and reminds me a little Marry the night music video intro: “It’s sort of like my past is an unfinished painting and as the artist of that painting I must fill in all the ugly holes, and make it beautiful again.”

Yes this video has aesthetic influences: "The Color of pomegranates" and "Alejandro Jodorowsky" BUT don't forget that the song is about depression and antipsychotics that she uses. I believe that this "strange world" (aesthetically influenced by the movies cited) is THE MENTAL STATE where she is when she has a crisis. This crisis is interrupted when she uses the antipsychotics and goes back to the real world The antipsychotics are quoted in the song called "dolls" ("Keep my dolls inside diamond boxes") and in the video we have a part where she holds a purse in one hand and in the other she holds a doll = antipsychotic.

For everyone who didn't understand the video: 1) Black Horseman in a White Desert - This signifies the poster for New Mexico Gaga saw before the accident. He may also signify Death or her body luring her deeper in her mind. 2) The Red Mask - This is the blood from the accident. 3) Bike with Pomegranates - The first real element in Gaga's vision. Most probably the victim of the collision. Pomegranates simultaneously signify life and death. 4) The Red Anklet - Gaga's broken foot in real life. 5) Walking to the White Chapel - This is the movie poster Gaga saw. This can also signify the deepest recesses of her mind, protecting her from trauma. 6) Pillow Man - Another victim of the accident who crashed on his steering wheel. 7) Black Girl in Blue - The first spectator to the accident. Most likely the one who called 911. 8) Two Yellow Men Holding a Door - These are two firemen holding the car door to get Gaga out of the mangled vehicle. Their hats have '911' written on them in roman numerals. The yellow men were blindfolded because the firemen wore black goggles. 9) Woman Holding a White Body - A woman holding a victim who got hit by the car. The white body even has red lace signifying blood. 10) Additional Three People in Blue - Additional spectators filming the whole thing. 11) Yellow Man Mixing a Cauldron - This is a fireman and a smoking car wreckage. 12) The Latin Guy in Black and the Black Mary in White - These are the paramedics trying to save Gaga's life. 13) The Spinning Umbrella - The paramedics descending via a helicopter. 14) The Purse with the Picture of the Doll - This signifies the pills that would have made her stable. Did she cause the accident? 15) The Latin Guy Strangling the White Mummy - The paramedic was checking for a pulse. 16) The Black Mary Covering the Pillow Man with a Sheet - This was the paramedic covering the victim with a thermal blanket. 17) A Man with Dog Ears whose Face is Being Covered by the Latin Man - The paramedic giving oxygen to one of the victims. 18) The Black Mary Flashing a Mirror on Gaga - The paramedic was flashing her flashlight on Gaga's pupil's looking for consciousness. Gaga in the dreamscape is her consciousness. 19) Gaga Floating Away with a Rose - This signifies Gaga's consciousness/life leaving her body. She was even wearing a halo. 20) The Latin Guy Pulling Her with a Rope - The paramedic gave her CPR. You can even see a brief flash of the real world as she comes crashing down. 21) The Rope - It was the tourniquet used on Gaga's foot. 22) Latin and Gaga Mouth-to-Mouth Action - This was CPR, mouth-to-mouth resuscitation. 23) Yellow Man on Ladder Sprinkling Rose Petals - This is a fireman repairing the movie sign. The petals were sparks. 24) Men in Blue Masks - These are policemen. They even have the bird sign in their hats. 25) The Blue Streamers Waving in the Wind - This was the fire hydrant spewing water. 26) The Peacock - This represented Armenia in the Armenian Film Festival signage. 27) The Black Mary Holding a Snake - This is the snake in the cross logo of the paramedics. 28) Gaga in Yellow Spasming - This is Gaga's body rejecting the medication/treatment. 29) The Mural - This was the scene of what really happened. Gaga is now getting closer to surfacing to reality. 30) The Latin Guy Touching Her Heart Area - The paramedic giving her heart pumps and CPR. 31) Gaga in Black Floral Outfit - This is Gaga being put in a full-body brace. The curtain also might have fallen in the background to signify her impending death, the body bag. This is why, as a last-ditch effort, the paramedics used the defibrillator. 32) The Box - This is the defibrillator. 33) The Virgin Sacrifice - As dream world and real world collide, the vision concludes in a terrifying sacrificial scene as the pain comes rushing in. It's interesting that the knife that kills her in the dream world is the current of electricity that brings her to life in the real world. 34) 'I didn't have my pills!' - This suggests that she caused the accident because she wasn't stable because she did not have her medication. 35) LG Advertisement - 'Life is good.' Ironic, isn't it?1) Black Horseman in a White Desert - This signifies the poster for New Mexico Gaga saw before the accident. He may also signify Death or her body luring her deeper in her mind.

So when you use other people's work that they've created with THEIR talent and THEIR brain, imagination, you at least have to have some decency to pay respect to that person and give them the credit they DESERVE. This is a video which CLEARLY uses the scenes from Sergei Paradjanov's film called "The Color of Pomegranates" (based on poems of Sayat-Nova - a greatly appreciated musician, poet armenian culture (google that, if you need to educate yourself on this. Judging by the number of likes - a bunch of people DO need that). It talks about armenian culture, heritage and history. Parajanov was a genius soviet filmmaker of armenian descent, a world-renowned talent alongside Tarkovsky, Scorsese and others. His work is to this day studied in universities and considered to be masterpieces (very few filmmakers managed to develop their own unique "language" when making a film. He did a lot for his art, was in labour camps for his views in the soviet era, had to work in a country with severe censorship. And, most importantly, he did a lot for his people and has a tremendous legacy around the globe. This lady is now earning money off of HIS hard work and talent. In other words, this is yet another example of CULTURAL APPROPRIATION. Remember this when this person gets another award and will be praised for her aka "imagination" and what not. It takes literally 2 braincells to steal other's work. But the gag is...you need to have some smarts to pull that off too, whuch is not the case in the video above. Don't make mockery of other ethnicities' culture and legacy. And sure as hell - don't make money off of that. Give people the credit that they deserve. Create your own, don't steal other's. Tip of the day: Hold your "idols" accountable and don't normalise this type of shitty behavior. Peace

JESUS CHRIST GAGA! The amount of references in the video to the end is insane! I’m gonna list all the ones I noticed, I’m sure I missed plenty. 0:27 here the anklet is representing her wounded/bleeding ankle while also showing the bike. 0:46 the person banging their head on a pillow is actually an airbag 0:55 I don’t know if this outfit is representative of a neck brace but it looks like that to me. 1:07 this is the person in the street cradling on of the deceased victims 1:15 these are the bystanders as evidenced by the “selfie stick” shown here 1:19 1:18 here are two of the biggest! The two paramedics. And the Red Cross on the white outfit is obviously the Red Cross, but it doesn’t even register on your first watch 1:34 here the paramedic is covering the victim in a blanket 1:55 this is the other paramedic putting on this persons oxygen mask 2:11 the mirror here is the flashlight they shine in her eyes while over her 2:14 here’s a GREAT one! Here they pull her down which is them literally resuscitating her and you can see for a split second her in the real world here 2:17 (This one is thanks to another comment here) 2:26 the tourniquet is applied here 2:34 ooh and this is the person fixing the movie theater sign, and the rose petals are the sparks! 2:35 these people in blue costumes represent police officers controlling the crowd 2:39 the people wearing yellow with the red symbols represent the firefighters 2:46 this is obviously just an actual depiction of the whole crash 3:02 yellow police tape in the background 3:07 and lastly here is the stretcher! 3:17 and then these are obviously the defibrillator paddles and all of the people at the scene. Feel totally free to tell me ones I missed

@@dharrison6504 That would still make sense though! When they shock they "clear" so no one is in contact with the person, so she wouldn't be being bagged at that moment. 1) Pop a 911 refers to Popping an anxiety pill that gets referred to as "911" 2) The song is an upbeat pop song about battling one's addiction to anxiety medication and trying to stabilize mental instability. I.e My biggest enemy is me, pop a 911. 3) This song video is a reference to an obscure Armenian film called The Colour of Pomegranates. Hence the Pomegranates and also a lot of symbolism match those found in that film. 4) They were not Mexican references but Armenian references. Hence why they flash a sign that says Armenian film festival. 5) The part where Gaga is in green and flying refers to when her life is leaving her body but the paramedic resuscitated her and brought her back down. That's why the halo on her head is not above her head because she's not left her body yet. The flower she carries as well as white and fresh when she floats but once she descends back, notice how it wilts. 6) The woman in the white garb with the long-haired man is the other medic on the accident site. Note the red cross symbol. And the snake in the universal logo for medicine is referenced constantly. 7) The end proves that Gaga perceives the world in a colorful and fantasy-based manner. That's why everything she saw before she became unconscious was interpreted by her mind the way we saw it. Another theory is that she perceived them that way because she was not on her pills. the pills "normalize" her so without the pills, everything is perceived by her is magical and artistic. 8) Also, in 2011, Gaga wore teal hair and said she wears teal when she wants to portray her fantasy side.and goes back to blonde when she's portraying reality. Notice how she's teal haired when she's in the fantasy dream in 911 but in the accident scene, she's blonde. 9) LG could be a sponsor but it's also what the fans call her. LG stands for Lifes good and for Lady Gaga. Thank you for coming to my TED Talk

This video is just perfect. It's like when you black out in a traumatic event and the brain just responds to that making you dream with elements of what happened to you but in a good way so they don't seem so harsh to process... And like, when she is floating to the sky she means literally almost dying but somehow when the paramedics manage to stabilize or "wake her up" is when the guy pulls her down. After that he makes a pressure in her ankles and that is the feeling of pain coming back to her as she recovers consciousness but at first it just feels like a slight pressure then it slightly turns into a big pressure then real pain. I also took some time but finally understood why the guy in the beginning is hitting a pillow, again that is the way of the brain trying to process what she saw (him hitting the wheel while crashing) in a "good" or less traumatic way.

Interesting! I thought that the whole video was about Christianity references. I thought the paramedic was supposed to represent Jesus. When Gaga would turn to him and then the wall and back to him while singing "my biggest enemy is me papa 911", that represented her not having anywhere to turn/any help except for turning to Jesus, and "papa 911" meant that she was calling to God/papa for help. I felt like the paramedic guy pulling her back down was supposed to represent how Jesus serves as an anchor/rock for people to have stability in their lives. And I felt like the invisible cuff around her leg was supposed to represent Gaga's sort of invisible tether of faith to Jesus that would serve to keep her safe and grounded now. I felt like the video as a whole was supposed to represent how when faced with some sort of crisis, Gaga is saying to shout out "papa 911" and ask god for help.

you have to match up the end of this with Panic At The Disco's Slow Motion... a cover of Third Eye Blind.... The last minute or so of that matches the last minute of this short film. "OH, ******, grow up, you're so effing ......, Ameriqual, go eff yourself. Because she's inciting violence or whatever with that there..The end of slow motion goes.... "And death slides close to me, won't grow old to be, a J***y, Wino, Creep. Hollywood glamorized my wrath. I'm a young urban psychopath. I incite murder. For your entertainment. Because I needed the money. What's your excuse, the joke's on you. Slow Motion, see me let go..." And fyi if you connect 911, Slow Motion, and R Kelly, you kind of see it clearly then.... Illusions are beautiful from far away... get closer, you'll see something else... not what you think....

I understood the reference, because I suffered from panic-psychotic disorder and I am taking treatment and antidepressant ... this video implies that 911 refers to a medicine that brings us back to reality. AND the symptoms of this disorder are compared to those of a car accident. . Bravo Gaga because everything you do is ART ♡. The mind is very powerful. And when it is against us, it causes reality to distort, negative thoughts invade and create mental exaggerations that drive us crazy. that's why the entire video is strange, until 911 brings her back to reality.

Lady Gaga said of this album: “If you’re listening to this album and you’re suffering in any type of way, just know that that suffering within itself is a sign of your humanity and you are not broken. You are connected to the whole world and we are one giant body. We are one full entity,” Gaga said. “And the whole you is having a whole human experience and there might be parts of your life that feel completely shallow or robotic or ancillary and unimportant, and that’s okay, but that suffering is a sign that you’re real and it’s a way to ground yourself.” she also talked about healing through dance :)

After watching the video and the painting several times I think I got what happened in real life: - The character of Lady Gaga didn’t take her medications ( I’m guessing antipsychotics/ benzodiazepines/ antidepressants ?) she was suicidal, she wanted to end her life so she drove into traffic with her bicycle and she had bought pomegranates ( that’s why we see them fruits scattered in the “dream” version) - The first car (the blue car that had the guy that got his head hit by the airbag )crashed into the bicycle and then the Lamborghini crashed into the first car and probably ran one of the pedestrians (a foreigner or non cacausian). -The medical team got there by helicopter ( that’s why we see in the dream version, the two descending with an umbrella and we see it too on the paining). They were called by the two pedestrians that we see with the selfie-stick - The police probably got there first. About the symbolism, I got : - A Desert because she saw the LG display and the movie theater poster(white sand) and it probably represents a limbo ( between life and death) - She was laying down right next to her bicycle so it’s almost certain she caused the accident. - She had a red ankle bracelet and a red mask that represent the wounds she had from the accident. - Pomegranates because she bought them and they represent the Armenian film, the color of pomegranates - Black horse and the rider, again from the movie theater poster (white sands) /LG display that probably represents death (that’s why Lady Gaga is following it because she actually was hoping to die) - Then she enters to the scene at the chapel, she’s not ready to leave because she feels guilt ‘cause she actually got people hurt. - We see the guy hitting his head with the pillow that represents the airbag (and it repeats itself because lady Gaga saw this. it reminds me of flashback memories or involuntary recurrent memories that occur in PTSD) -The first pedestrian is there by curiosity - The colored Frame represents the window of the blue car. - After that, we see the two pedestrians that called 911 ( pointing the helicopter) and also recorded the scene. - The two medical staff descend from the helicopter , then the hot paramedic gave the guy in the blue car a special blanket and checked the pulse of the pedestrian who got ran by one of the cars. - Next we see the hot paramedic attending, the rich man with a tank of oxygen ( represented by the shell 🐚 ). - then we see Gaga trying to ascend to heaven ☁️, then get pulled back to earth by the hot paramedic and flashed with a mirror by the other paramedic ( representing the light of the flashlight 🔦). We also get a subliminal image of reality when she hits the floor. - At one point she gets CPR by the hot paramedic but she’s not responding so she leaves ( she’s like nope 🤷🏻♀️) - The hot paramedic grabs her ankle to place the tourniquet. - She follows the black horse with the rider again because she’s close to death but the paramedic follows her to save her. (And the blue silky fabric represents the water from the fire hydrant 💦 ). -The hot paramedic checks her pulse, and we see the painting, explaining everything that happened in real life. - Then he gets the defibrillator and gives it to the other paramedic. - Next there’s the scene inside the chapel, almost like a trial, everyone points her because she caused the accident. So in her mind, it’s interpreted as a sentence to death . - She cries because she’s realized how much pain she has caused and that the only thing that she wanted is to end her life (props to the acting we could feel how painful it was for her😢) - She was found guilty so the hot paramedic “kills her” with the pointy daggers but instead it’s the defibrillator. And voilà she’s brought back to life! Bonus : the hot paramedic is seen by Lady Gaga as the punisher / the executioner / “the bad guy” because 1) he cut her chance to go to heaven 2) he follows her to send her to trial 3) he “kills her”. The representation that she has of him is totally out of touch with reality and at the same time it’s not because deep down she knows he’s trying to save other people but her guilt is simply stronger. So in her mind she needs to be punished.

@gregorykeith79134 жыл бұрын
Great analysis! But I thought the guy lying in the middle of the street, unattended to, must be dead. what if he was on the bike, wasn't watching, first car hit him and zooms left,, 2nd car ran up the curb to that driver's right to avoid the guy already dead. And Gaga was a pedestrian hit by car 1 or by car 2 as she was leaving the movie theatre.
@sofiahorzez4 жыл бұрын
Gregory Keith thank you ! yeah maybe , I really don’t know ! I’m just guessing from what I saw and how the bicycle was placed in the first scene. If the pedestrian was the one in the bike it wouldn’t make sense that she was feeling guilty that she didn’t take her pills/ and that she asked right away if anybody had died ! Also if you look close at the painting the blue car is in front of the bike and the girl looks like she was thrown out of the bike and the pedestrian is next to the car. If the blue car hit the bike, logically the person should’ve been thrown forward and not sideways. It’s just a theory tho 😄

This music video is so stunning. The colours, costumes, direction, cinematic references, cinematic techniques, narrative and more: beautiful. Gaga in the video experiences this visual feast as a means of processing and making sense of a traumatic event. Everything she sees connects and is paralleled by the events revealed at the end of the video: the silhouetted El-Topo-esque man on the horse shown in a billboard advertisement; the Armenian film festival explaining the art direction of the near death experience dream; the man hitting his head against the pillow aka the man in the car who would have hit his head against the steering wheel in the crash (one of the last visceral images Gaga would have seen before blacking out); the two people who descend from the sky aka the paramedics who fly onto the scene in the helicopter and tend to the injured with emergency blankets, checking vitals and performing CPR; people taking selfies and photos; the weeping woman with the dead man; the ladder and firemen; the burst hydrant; the snake and the cross; the brace on Gaga’s ankle; the man with the oxygen mask: the mirrored light aka the torch for checking vitals; references to CPR (which in the dream Gaga refuses as she is hesitant to live again) etc etc. All while during this near-death-dream Gaga’s soul tries to float away into the sky but the paramedic characters bring her back down, ultimately bringing her back to life. There is a beautiful melding of mental health/trauma/ptsd and physical trauma. The accident very much is a metaphor for experiencing an episode, and her battles with ptsd, mental health and chronic pain. She says “I didn’t have my pills”, but through all the pain and trauma she still says “I don’t want to die”. Powerful, raw, artistic and beautiful. ❤️ Congrats to Lady Gaga, Tarsem Singh and the entire team who worked on this piece of art. ❤️❤️❤️
