It's emotional for me because at this moment in her life, we can tell she is so happy. She finally has a team that is protecting her art, unlike previous eras. There has been so much shit she had to go through to get to this moment. I cannot think of a more perfect time in her career to release something like this.

if you wanna take a tip from a random about the best album of 2024 that passed everyone by, Allie X - Girl With No Face. Very much in the coldwave genre, written and produced entirely on her own, and the things she's able to do with her voice are just astonishing. Check out the song 'Off With Her Tits', pick your jaw up off the floor and then give the rest of the album a spin. And if you want to go hard-hard, Poppy just dropped an album that has an honest-to-god almost-deathcore track on it. She looks like a waif of a porcelain doll and screams like an actual demon

I see lots of comments about the song being about her grappling with all her different identities throughout her career, and certainly sonically it feels like the logical culmination of everything BUT: the actual lyrics very much read like she's talking about addiction. Recall her talking about 911 from Chromatica, where she said that due to her propensity to addiction she can't take painkillers so she has olanzapine instead to deal with the excruciating pain that is part of her fibromyalgia - in fact the end of the video for that song is referencing something that really happened. She was in so much pain she fully dissociated from reality, 'came to' in the ER with no memory of who she was or how she got there, and thought she'd been in a horrific car accident and was about to die because of the level of pain she was in
