Tony, where have you been 40 years ago? I was desperate for a jazz teacher, after having learned classical piano. None of the great jazz pianists wanted to teach where I was located. Later I found out that stuff that took me many years to figure out, could have been explained in a couple of hours.

That was a real treat, your playing the song at the beginning. Been following for awhile. I used to hang around Berklee guys while attending classical Longy over the river. I think Jazz was male-dominated back then. Very nice that you share your Jazz knowledge.

I use Ebm7 in bar 2 which moves down stepwise to the Dm7 in bar 3

Hi Tony. Nice job ! What interests me particularly is the solo over the 1 6 2 5 when the 6 is a dominant 7 (rather than a more vanilla m7 chord as the 6 as many play). I really struggle to incorporate something interesting over the 6 chord because of the speed of the changes. What is your go to scale (if you have one?) for that bar of the turnaround please ?
@TonyWinston Жыл бұрын
Altered or diminished. A7 use A, Bb, C, C#, D#.........that is the beginning of both scales

Yo Tony, nice playing man. I really wanna learn Chet Baker’s version of ‘let’s get lost’ which has a brilliant piano part by Russ Freeman. Any chance u could hit us up with a lesson? Cheers
