And he is known for some romances/affairs - with women (for example with Eleanor Parker). I wonder what is your source for assuming he was gay? Maybe he was unconfident with women when he was young (because of his dominant mother). But apparently this has changed with time. And regarding Barbara Stanwick: well, she had relationships and affairs with men and women. And her marriage with Robert Taylor was wanted by MGM because of the long affair both had with each other.

This is my favorite of Hedy. It's a film that continues to be criticized, but Hedy was phenomenally Gorgeous... and she gave a soulful performance, which has been, sadly, underrated.

I have the insert poster for this. Only the lobby card has part of it's imagery. The rest is the most art deco imagery mixed with a tropical desert vibe I've ever seen on a poster. The fonts, the overall design. And I collect. We'll leave Metropolis outta this..

One of my favourite Hedy la Marr films, though the racial politics remain dubious----about the mysterious Half Caste woman who can never fit into Western society and must expire for her "Transgressive" attempts to cross that racial boundary. I'm aways fascinated by LaMarr's allure, impassivity and "inscrutability"---the hallmarks of a true temptress who keeps men guessing about how they are what they'll do next. The role of "Manon" is a role that contemporary Merle Oberon would have brought more authenticity.
