Many feel like Cassandra is more skilled than shiva. And the reality is she isnt.. Cassandra has one move that triumphs most of shiva technique which is body reading.. taught to her by shiva herself. Cassandra surpass her in that depicts but in other she is not a threat.. in terms of raw skill shiva is taking this easy

She also began to see her sister as a weakness that had now been removed. I don't understand the second question. Cass wasn't meant to suffer. Her portrayal in Batman, Soul of the Dragon was pretty damn good. She and Bruce were both students of O-Sensei. She was apparently so good that years later after he became Batman and she became head of Gotham's Chinatown underworld, Batman admitted that he still didn't think he could take her down.

I know he trained Batman and Deadshot, and was a rival of Deathstroke. He was also a colleague of Bronze Tiger and used him to train Cassandra. Much of his history from there is tied to Cassandra's upbringing.

In the most recent issues, we see Shiva reliving that memory. Despite it being what she thought she wanted, it's clear she's haunted and what she actually wants is to just be a part of her daughter's life. She even confronts Bruce in his home and tries to get him to kill her because she feels like she's lost Cass to him (it's also implied she knows Bruce Wayne rather well, enough that she's apparently sick of hearing about him talk about his dead parents, and apparently she knew Alfred pretty well too. She even knows where and how to get into multiple Batcaves).

Not a big fan of this origin story. I much prefer the 90's version in which Lady Shiva doesn't have a "real name" and only gives a series of aliases. We only know that she must've come from somewhere in Southern China or a neighboring nation. There are rumors that she and her sister were the children of a martial arts grand-master. She eventually reveals that she and her sister were sold off into sex trade, during which her sister died and Lady Shiva, still a child, falls pregnant, but the baby is killed as soon as it is born. Shiva manages to escape, vowing for revenge. She goes off in search of a master to teach her martial arts, but is refused every time, because she's a girl. Lady Shiva decides to trick a master and disguises herself as a boy. She shows to be a prodigy, but is eventually found out. The master, insulted, tries to have her killed, only for her to kill them all, including the master. Then, she goes on to find even greater masters and, every time, the story repeats itself, until Lady Shiva, alone, remains. It becomes her M.O., as she rarely leaves witnesses behind, until there's no one left to remember who she really is. Still, she builds up quite a reputation in the underworld and, eventually, students seek *her* out and she begins to teach. That Lady Shiva didn't work for anyone and certainly didn't serve Ra's Al Ghul. She only cared about being the Grandmaster of martial arts. I think I remember a story arc where Lady Shiva and Ra's step on each other's toes and Shiva just decides to "off" a portion of Ra's army. Instead of killing Robin III (Tim Drake), she decides to train him and sends him back to Gotham as a gift to Batman. She served the DC universe much better. She was a humility lesson for Batman whom, until he met her, never took any female adversary seriously in a fight. She was also a good social commentary by reminding Batman that the option of sparing your enemy was a luxury that doesn't exist everywhere, especially in parts of the world where there are no jails, no justice systems or where corruption is rampant. She was a murdering criminal in Gotham, but a greatly respected person and a protector in other places.

Shiva needed to push her daughter to the point of seeing if her daughter had the instinct to kill her own mother, if she succeeded then Cassandra would be the perfect killer succeeding her mother. Shiva of course didnt fear death (she never did) as she serves Ra's al Ghul and hence could return with the Lazarus Pit. All ofc is IMO.
