Makes me Cry - Because SHE ACTED HER AZZ OFF and deserved everything - The only Movie NOBODY had ever tried to remake
@wandadevereaux235929 күн бұрын
You're right a remake of this movie was never made, but a more true to fact movie about Billi Holiday was made starring Andra Day released in 2021 called "The United States vs. Billi Holiday". Lady Sings the Blues was full of misinformation and down right untruths about her life. Although it was good movie, it did not tell the truth about the real Billi Holiday. If you are a true fan, check out the movie made with Andra Day, you will be impressed trust me.

I read the book this movie was based on and saw it at the theatre during its initial release in 1972... FOUR times before it left the theatre. I have voraciously collected every book, VHS, DVD, read, watched, and listened to everything I could get my hands on about her... and I am STILL fascinated with her life, talent, music and legend!

When I was starting my djing career in 2003, my grandpa said I could dig through his records. I found Lady Sings The Blues and was inspired. I stumbled into a music school in 2004 by accident and we had a class project. I created my first album mix, and interwove a few samples and interludes from LSTB into my set on my first album called, Frontal Lobe Funk. To this day, it is still one of my fave collector’s pieces. Especially because it ties me to my fave person in the entire universe, my grandpa, who would tell me stories about Stomping at the Savoy, and who let me turn our guest room into my first little studio room to get my legs under me. I would play for hours, as mindful of the volume as possible and I would come out from practicing for 4 hours or more and he would say, “why’d you stop? You sounded so good.” I would laugh and say, “because it’s 2am and I didn’t want to wake you, grandpa. “ 😅 He was such a great support. I’m 41 now, an award-winning DJ, mentor and I am fortunate for this video being posted! Thank you. ❤

This movie needs to be redone showing the true nature of Louis McKay
@jeanettesdaughter21 күн бұрын
Why⁉️ We know him all too well. But we also want to remember the best that Billie was and is by not focusing on the lowlifes in her life. She was a child prostitute too; you want to dig into the details of that⁉️McKay wasn’t the only pusher man, and sexual abuse was common among ALL women. Furthermore, alcohol and drug addiction was a problem among white performers, too. They simply weren’t punished and degraded for it as we were and are. Making a monster movie about McKay does nothing for the heroic character of Lady Day!

This is a very hard film to watch although it is beautiful! As a young boy seeing this for the first time I was awestruck by the beauty of Diana Ross! Not able to understand fully what was going on all I saw was a woman who would be very sad or down suddenly LIGHT UP THE ENTIRE SCREEN with a beauty I had never seen on another human being! And the beauty of her voice and the haunting melodies it was really too much emotional stimulation for a young boy to bear yet again the sheer beauty of Diana Ross & the angelic tones of her voice made the film too compelling for a young boy to resist. I have only loved Diana Ross from this film to this day! She portrayed such sadness in this film yet she herself is one of the most positive and upbeat women to ever hit Hollywood and the music industry she is sheer inspiration. She is a work of art, she is like a goddess, all her moves seem just right she is tough as titanium yet soft and sweet where it fits. I arrived in this realm to be so favored as to be here when she arrived and in her time I feel she is like a sun or a moon in my personal solar system as if I could not be here if she were not. She almost seems like a figment of my wildest imagination come true. She is EVERYTHING she is the first thing I loved outside of my family and from a very young age! She helped me to cultivate a voice of my own and sing as well because of the love I have for her voice! Peace & power to the magnificent woman of lifetimes Diana Ross! .
