There are plenty of videos where the horses are not well behaved and not as a discredit to the horse. The main issue generally seems to be their bits are under their tongues ... which it would seem the guards should know better and fix it .... but i never have seen them do that. When you first see the mother and daugther, you can also see that the guard is looking at them occasionally. When the nother goes to put the note in his boot, she hesitates, and says something, and he gives a nod so subtle you can hardly see it. (He also moves his right hand, possibly gesturing to the boot.) She puts the note in his boot and then he says something to her. Then he spends a few seconds looking at the note now in his boot, then again, gives a subtle nod to her. That's at least what I saw, I could have missed something or made a wrong observation.

Well technically what i see is the note originates from the mom's hand and she hands it to the little girl (which is foolish on her part considering some of the other videos i have seen of ppls interactions with the guards and horses). The little girl, being wiser than her mom, hands it back .... like, "do it yourself mom." Lol the little girl did not have the note until her mom gave it to her in hopes she would deliver it. The little girl even makes a little noise in protest to the mother. Very foolish mom. You can even see her try to make the girl take it .... are yall blind??? The girl is holding the mom's hand the whole time and her other hand is visible holding something else. I dont understand why you are rewriting the moment.

No, at 3:06 the mum puts it into her daughter’s hand, but daughter seems reluctant to take it. But she did get a nod from the guard who looked at it very carefully before indicating his boot. If he’d not wanted her to do that, he’d have let know - forcefully! Just think how exposed those guards are to assault from terrorists.

I know nothing about horses but it seems to me that a bit in the horse's mouth is painful. Could someone here who knows about these things explain and ease my mind? I can't stand the thought of these beautiful animals being uncomfortable or in pain.

I’m not a big fan of bits, used to ride mine mostly without…but it’s more to do with how it’s used if it’s properly fitted (which these are) and as you can see the reins are mostly completely loose. Horses will play around with the bits if they are bored, but in this situation it’s not painful or uncomfortable. It’s actually what is called a double bridle, with two bits in the mouth. If the rider was jerking on the bits it would hurt the horse.

I agree with Solitude, bits can be painful if used wrong, but in this case the horse was probably just bothered by bugs or bored (head tossing and chewing)

At least the majority of the people in this video kept a respectable distance away from the horse. It is stressful enough for the horse to have to stand quietly for a period of time with the large crowds talking and milling around them and noisy traffic going by on the street. Just as the soldier is on guard duty, so is the horse and now is not the time to be distracting them from their job by trying to get close to touch them. Would you go up to a police dog on duty and try to pet it? I think not. I'm actually really surprised that the people are allowed to get as close as they are for their own safety. A warning sign isn't going to do much to help you when a horse spooks and tramples or kicks you.

Maybe the mother wrote the note out in writing for the little girl, they tried to give it to her to give to the guard. She is pretty young. I don't think that she could write a whole note by herself.

The parents who push their scared or fearful young children up to the horses, should be escorted away from the horses and given a stern warning, even a police citation, for the dangers they’re putting their children in.😡 Everyone should know, you don’t approach a horse if you’re scared or uncertain about horses. Plus any fast, jerky movements can be sensed as a danger to a horse and this will tense a horse up. But what pisses me off the most, is that everyone thinks a horse likes his nose, muzzle area touched. If that were so, tourists wouldn’t get bitten by the horses. Just as NO tourists would try to “pet” any strange dogs noses, nor put their small children next to any unfamiliar dog or any other animals they don’t know. Horses too, truly don’t like the “muzzle” petting by strangers. It’s like if you walk too close behind an unknown horse or touched his rump to tail area, you can’t be surprised when the horse kicks back and hits his target = you!😂 ya idjits!
