7th visit this year and finally the water has receded to reveal derwent Hall. This is the building I've been waiting for. It's still not fully out of the water however hopefully the water will recede a little more. I'm also waiting to see the school which was down from the church.
Must give thanks to the late Vic Hallam for the original pictures. They're from his amazing book Silent Valley.

Derwent hall was a fantastic looking building, used as a youth hostel in the 1940’s just before it was demolished. Such a shame!

Was the village demolished or robbed out before it was flooded. There is not much left is why I ask. It looks like the church(or at least the tower) was slowly leaning over in the water.

No the village was left as is, I have found allsorts of things walking on bottom of thete ftom clay pips to pots and tiles. The church spire was even left and every now and again you'd see it when the level dropped. In the end they knocked it down because it was becoming a hazard with the water sports... Also don't forget ya had the Dambusters practicing on there...

Yeah I know. I've been up a few times since this was made. Last time was Saturday. I'm going up again Monday to take some more photos and maybe do a video or two. It fascinates me.

That tile you stole, are you going to return it?

Hahha well there you are saying I stole the tile when in actual fact I threw it into the water. As unlike other people who have no respect for history I do. So thankyou.

@@hazeybabes7234 Let's face it, those of today won't mind putting it on Ebay for some money. I didn't mean it in a derogatory manner, but my faith in todays bunch is very low...they have no responsibility hence little respect for others property...

@@jamespond3097 yeah I agree with you in regards to the small minded individuals. However I love history and feel it should be left for future generations to enjoy. It was a dream seeing the village emerge last year. Just hope people will respect it should it emerge again.
