i genuinely liked the movie (i watched it yesterday) obviously there were some parts i was iffy with, but for what it was it was great. i love that they added more onto their personalities. also, seeing more of the school felt WEIRD. it felt like your favorite video game getting turned into a movie bigger and they went into one of the rooms that were inaccessible. i also REALLY liked their introductions this time around. their first meeting in the TV show was something i was not that fond of. and Marinette ACTUALLY asking Adrien out instead of that weird and very frustrating "just friends" or "never had the right chance" trope was so SATISFYING. and her standing up to Chloe? Love it.

I rewatched the movie after binged watching the show and as a new fan, *I dont think the movie did everything better than the series* I love the fact that Marinette and the other characters’ problematic actions have been omitted in the film but I didnt like how Adrien lost the major characterizations he has in the series. He’s my fave in the show because of how much complex his character is. You see not just a duality between Adrien and Cat Noir. He’s multifaceted. In the movie, he’s represented immediately as a troubled kid who lost his mom and even his dad. I didnt like how he found purpose when he fell in love with Ladybug. In the show, Adrien has been trying his best to get on with his life even before he became a super hero and he met ladybug. the series did so well portraying how much Adrien keeps his emotions in. He may not be physically wearing a mask as Adrien but he puts on a facade by smiling and being cheerful each day. And that’s what’s make him more heart-wrenching as a character. Despite the pain he’s hiding, he’s so kind and empathic towards twisted characters in the show. The movie anchored Adrien’s pain more to him losing his mother when his despair roots to his father’s extreme controlling but distant behaviour. It would’ve made the climax more heart-breaking had they fleshed out Adrien as much as they did with Marinette in the movie. Again, Cat Noir was tossed aside in this version.

Yeah, and funny thing is, Adrien is Zag’s favorite as well. I think Zag wanted to get the basis out the way (establishing the power and how the became who they are) before getting into it. I heard there’s 2-3 more movies created by Zag that’s coming and I have a feeling that it was have more breathing room. It might be able to flush out more characters if the movie done very well! He might be taking these feedbacks and apply them! I have more faith and hope in Jeremy than Thomas honestly.

Or else they’d sabotage the best character they have in the show 😅 I think, if they lessen the musical scenes, they would’ve had more chance to work on Adrien’s characterization. It took Marinette 3 full songs to overcome her internal conflict and it wasn’t even the best direction they could’ve done it, imo. I wonder how they’ll move forward from their identity reveal, though. One of the leads’ biggest conflicts is that they cant know each other’s identities. We wouldn’t be able to see the stark difference of Adrienette and Ladynoir’s dynamics in the next installments 🥲

Maybe this one will flush out few side characters (Chloé, Alya, Nino) Maybe Chloe does like Adrien but she’s like a protective sibling more? Idk I’m throwing things atm lol. But yeah I think if not all that, maybe it’ll focus on the new dynamic between normal and heroism.
