Royal Albatross ~ LGL & LGK Fly In At Same Time For A Family Reunion! 💕💕 6.16.24

TF and TFT both see a double arrival of parents and are wheeing with excitement! It is LGL that lands first & then right behind her LGK is seen flying in! It is amazing by itself for one parent to be feeding their chick and have another parent arrive too - but to have both parents arrive at the same time is astonishing! LGL & LGK approach TF and he is wheeing with excitement -he doesn't know who will feed him so he begs both parents back and forth! When LGL and LGK want to preen one another - TF is vocal and demanding - me first me first lol
LGK begins the feeding and LGL sits and watches and then LGL will take over the feeding. When she is finished she will take off and LGK remains doing some gardening. TF goes to his nest and does not bother Dad for more food. LGK stayed about ten minutes before he got up and walked off to the right. TF had a very special reunion today with both parents coming in to take care of him!
TFT was watching and hoping for his parents to come in and feed him too! Both BOK and WYL have had several reunions with their chick so far this season! Thank you for watching!

I've been so caught with the many osprey nests i watch thag I haven't checked on the Albie chicks in a while and I can't believe how big they've gotten!!! Glad to see TF got to eat from both parents ❤❤

Thank you very, very much for this wonderful video, dear Lady Hawk! It was lovely to see the entire Royal Cam Family at home together, and to see how LGK and LGL managed to greet each other and their chick, give each other important preens and scents, and stay a little while with TF. I really appreciate being able to replay the details that you include in these video moments, to see each chicks reactions to parents coming in, how the parents choose to proceed with the feedings as their chicks develop and begin to explore more of their nest sites. TF even did a wee "face plant" when he returned to his nest, but unfazed, stood nice and tall once he was firmly in the spot that he wanted to rest in after his Two big meals! What a great day this Royal Cam Family had! ✨✨💖💖💗💗💖💖✨✨ (p.s. It was great to see TFT's reactions/actions during the visit, too! Love having both nest sites within view of the RC!)

Hello Rosalindy you are very welcome! ♥ We are blessed this season to have both albie families nest so close to one another AND for first time breeders BOK and WYL to be accepting of another albie family so close in their territory. We had a few clack clack clacks with BOK and LGL and their neighboring chicks - Poor TFT got the worst part of LGL. Thankfully she is over that!! This was a lovely reunion - short and sweet. I’ve been following the albies since Tiaki and this is a first for me. Not the family reunion, of course…but a family reunion with both parents flying in together. How absolutely magical! I also liked how TF decided “Yeah, this is nice and all that-but I’m here for the food! If you two can’t figure out who’s going to feed me first, I’ll just rub both beaks until one of you coughs up the goods!”🤪 Fantastic video, as always, dear Lady Hawk! Hello dskor so nice to see you again!! This reunion was what I would call a "working reunion" lol they kept their interactions short and fed TF and then off again. LGK did linger an extra 12 minutes or so ♥ I remember the reunions between OGK and YRK!! They would spend a greater amount of time together and with their chicks Pippa and Lilibet. I miss OGK. I am happy that TF has had several reunions all ready with LGL and LGK - that is important for the chick!! Take care and I hope you have a great week!

Hi Lady Hawk! Yes, I still miss OGK very much…he was amazing. I’ve still been checking your videos every day; just haven’t been commenting as much. I’ll try and get back into the swing of things! 😊 This does seem like a good opportunity to express some extra thanks to you. Last month, my mother passed away. I promise I’m not telling you this to gain sympathy or anything like that: her passing was-in many ways-a relief. She was a remarkable woman, and a wonderfully independent woman…in an era when women were not supposed to be independent (she was over 92 when she passed). Amongst many other things, my love of birds comes from her. In the past, I had shown her the occasional video of Tiaki and Lilibet. But Mum was basically immobile for the past two and a half years. During my daily visits, together we started following Manaaki, and then TF and TFT this year. She enjoyed it so much! I think the last time I saw her really laugh was last year. This was when that female (I’ve forgotten her designation), came down to Mannaki and started displaying. Mannaki clearly had NO idea what was going on, and quickly turned and waddled away (towards the camera) with a look of complete panic in his eyes! “I don’t know what you’re doing but you’re scaring the heck out of me!”🤪 Mum never forgot that video! And so, dear Lady Hawk, please accept my heartfelt thanks from the bottom of my heart and the depths of my soul for all that you do for us. You have done-and continue to do-more good than you can possibly imagine. When TF and TFT fledge, my mother’s spirit will be with them, thanks to you. With love, hugs and blessings to you…Derek

Hello dskor my deepest condolences on the passing of your Mom! That is amazing she lived to be 92 years young! What a blessing to have your Mom for that long! ♥ That female you are referring to was our Miss NTF chick (north top flat chick) She was the female on the hill that would look down on Manaaki and UQ chicks! Oh boy was she something else! I am so glad to hear that you and your Mom watching these albatross videos together! And that she really loved them! Do you remember when NTF would come down and stand in Manaaki's nest? What a hoot!! Yes Manaaki would paddle away from her!! That is a beautiful thought about TF and TFT fledging and knowing your Mom's spirit will be with them traveling over the ocean for weeks on end as they migrate to South America! I think she will be with them and keep them safe till they find their way! ♥Take care and God bless you!!

Hello ptoayor - no TFT is not missing out on feedings! In fact the next day, both parents for TFT came in for a double feeding and again today! The chick weighs more than TF and is 8 days younger ♥ Keep in mind I can't record every single feedings between two chicks and two sets of parents all coming in at different times ♥
