UPDATE Dec 25th 2024 from AEF: "Good morning. At this time, we would like to address what we believe is the situation at the NEFL nest. There have been sightings over the last few days, of 1 or 2 other eagles close to the nest territory. We believe that there is indeed a possibility that Gabrielle has been engaging with at least one of them, maybe a female. We cannot confirm what exactly is happening but now, after seeing a possible injury/blood near Gabrielle’s right eye & frontal area above the cere, this could be from a territorial confrontation with this rogue eagle. Please know that if any further information comes forward, we will be posting it. We understand everyone’s concern. You are not alone. Thank you. From the NEFL Team." Yes it appears she does have an injury I just posted a statement from AEF and pinned to the top of the video. The YT cams are also down so no rewind is availability only able to watch live. Check their FB site for a pic of her this morning. Prayers for Gabby!!

What ever it was that was bothering Gabby must resulted in serious discomfort every time she incubated the eggs. Maybe it was a pellet. But can't be certain since we didn't see Gabby pass one. Glad she's back and incubating her eggs.

The eagle uses many large branches to build its nest. The nest is very sturdy and protects the two eggs until the chicks hatch and become adults.

Hi Jane Gabby did not incubate the eggs since the first incubation switch with Beau in the morning around 07:40am. She did come home and is sleeping on the wallenda branch - looks like she has a big crop. Beau has been incubating all day except for a few short breaks and now all night!

It appears the crisis is over, thank God! Prayer and sending positive energy works! Something must have gotten stuck in her gizzard that was painful. Unfortunately, at 7:30pm tonight, from what is said on the NEFL site, after Gabby left her incubating duties earlier this morning, which WAS a decent amount of hours, but she never came back today so far to continue anymore incubating. Beau has been incubating ALL day so far and into the evening. Unless someone hasn't posted her incubating again today, 🤷‍♀️ Maybe Gabby will come back tonight again like last night, but something is definitely off with Gabby. Getting worried about her. Wondering if it's something to do with what she ate, maybe upsetting her stomach etc... Of course, just a thought... ❤🙏 EDIT: Gabby perched on the Wallander perch all evening, and is still there at Wednesday 2:24am. Something still isn't right with Gabby... Praying she'll start feeling better. At least she's hanging out at the tree. 🙏❤

Unfortunately Beau incubated for 18 hours! We don’t know why Gabby was gone so long, but when she came back early morning she just didn’t seem to want or be able to incubate herself but sat close by while Beau continued for another 2 hours.

She seems to be just fine - had a full crop last night and ate well. Pellets can have bones and bone fragments that don't digest and that could have a hard time coming back up. She has not shook her head since this!! Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!!
