According to Lam Ho Tak, the creator of this video, Soeng (the name of the train station in the end) is the Cantonese reading of 想 - to think, dream, believe and wish. Going to Soeng means heading to your dreams, in his own words. The song was already beautiful on its own, but combined with this video it's just pure art. I love how such a powerful message is presented simply without saying a word, that's the real beauty of art, in my opinion.

This song came to me after my brothers death. He had a blog where he occasionally posted a few songs by Olafur (that would eventually become part of his funeral soundtrack)... about a week after my brothers suicide, this video had replaced another video on his blog, without explanation. It was a song I hadn’t heard before and to this day I don’t understand how it appeared. I honestly think this was his way of reaching out to give us some peace...
@laural37384 жыл бұрын
Amazing story! Thanks for sharing it. I also lost my brother when we were young and there's no word I can say to express the emptiness this has left in my life and also no word I can say to try to fill the emptiness in your life. I just feel so much empathy for you in this moment.

Thanks for sharing this. Your brother wants to give you peace and he wants you to think about him whenever you hear this song. This is his gift to you.

There comes a time in everyone's life where they realize a loss. I feel for you, brother. I did not lose my brother, but lost the love of my life. And I received many a sign where I knew she still existed. It is up to us to decipher these messages and take what we can from them . . . and then do something about them. Integrate them into our life. Pursue teachings that may seem obscure. Use them as evidence to validate pursuit of knowledge that seems mystical to others, and even, sometimes, foreign to ourselves Know that you are not alone

I came from the azula video.. Truly admire the whole concept of the music and the video
The word soeng means "so close" in german. I think the light may represent letting go or becoming "free". The number 357 (shown in the first frame 0:01) indicates that you need to let go of your self-defeating attitude and have confidence in what you can do. I think the song may be saying that the average human is so caught up in their own flaws, that they aren't letting go. I believe that when the man missed the train, which represents the way to freedom, he felt defeated, but eventually got on a new train. Stepping off of the metaphorical train, he saw the light and beauty, therefore he was "Near Light". I find that I was once very insecure and apprehensive, but now, I find myself waiting for a train that will lead me to confidence and freedom, without the constant nagging of my own flaws inside my head. To me, the song is an encouragement to stop doubting oneself and begin believing so that you can be free and confident. I like how much emotion Mr. Arnalds portrayed in this song without using lyrics, and I love dancing to it. Beautiful music video!

Why do we all love sad music so much? I think it's because it gives us permission to tap into the deepest of feelings in our inner souls and allows them to be expressed fully. This is what I feel here in this absolutely beautiful composition and performance. The combination of piano and violin gets me every single time. So beautiful!! You are a great composer and your video is very artistically and beautifully done! BRAVO!! ~Jackie

As introverted person I always like calm and peaceful music. When I hear from others that calm music is boring, nobody wants to listen to it, I feel it is not true. There are millions of people who like it. We are not alone in the desire to hear the silence. I discovered your music several days ago and return to it every day. Thank you. Cute. So many christians here believing in a false deity. I find it amusing but also sad, that the human race won't move forward because their stuck in the stone age in believing a deity that isn't there. There are many FACTS that shows his not real. Look them up. Only thing a bible is good for is for keeping for back up toilet paper when camping.

I don't care for religion. I am an Atheist. I believe in science and that our universe, space, time, animals, humans, planets. Was not created by some Magical man. Your "god" has killed more people than Hitler, Stalin and sadam. Yet you follow him? He went straight to GENOCIDE and caused "floods" that killed every living thing in it because he had a little temper tantrum. I am sorry, but your "god" has multiple personality disorder. Also he says everyone who sins goes to hell, that also means if you have sex before marriage. Or looked at porn. Or a gay. yeah. Seems like a legit god hahahahaa please. Go read a book other than the most fictional book that is the bible. And soon you will realise that Atheism and science is the way to go. Not some old man who created a UNIVERSE out of NOTHING, that also says in the bible that it is IMPOSSIBLE. So yeah. it sadden me to think the human race shall destroy this planet because of religion. Luckily, Religion is dying and people are becoming smarter and realising that a old man in a robe creating this universe. Btw, Remember to thank your surgeon / doctor when they cure you of a illness. God had nothing to do with it. You would of been dead if it wasn't for some fucker that went to university to save your pathetic life.
@Onikagey8610 жыл бұрын
MrKaidalen just because you are an Atheist doesn't mean you should bash others for what they believe in. Im an Atheist too, but that doesn't give me the right to say that anybody elses religion is wrong. So feel free to shut the fuck up and pout in the corner and stop hating on others because they live the life they want.

I was watching this show called originals.. and then this soundtrack came up... and I just had to stop everything to be able shazam this... It has been one of the best decisions I’ve ever made in my entire life... This song... the power of music is so incredible and one of the most unique tools we can use to feel in such language thy words cannot express but throughout the sound waves that floats through the air entering our eardrums passing the vibrations in our very soul... This beautiful art can only make your body have such sensation... Music nowadays... like this one?... Are so undervalued... Markets only up for violence, sex, money, etc... But this? rarely heard... I listen to this very music happy, sad angry, scared... by so many emotions and the response it gives to my very being are all different... That’s how powerful music is... No matter what you feel it will give you a different tone to each sentiment... Such beauty and privilege... Just.. speechless.

The first time this song came up, I listened and didn't see the video but it gave me this profound feeling of loneliness. Then I saw the video and realized it fully encapsulates what it's like to wake up early for work before everyone else, before the sun, and drag yourself to get ready and head to the bus stop in the dark, then the train... even if other people are around, it feels so isolating.

We were innocent once, Elijah. This bloodlust was forced upon us by our parents, turning us from prey to predator. We are the demons lurking in shadows. We are the savage villains in fairy tales told to children, but not for my child, not for Hope. In her story, we are the knights in shining armor. Without you by my side, I dont think I can survive my own love for my daughter. I need you. I need you, brother. The monster in me can only be checked by monster in you. Here in Belgium, they used this song at the end of each episode of a reality based hospital series called "emergency 24/7" at the end when they comment on each patient they followed and how the treatments turned out for them. And this will be for always be associated with a poor young woman who died from an uncurable tumor behind her face. But it was also a tune of hope for many others. So for a long time I assumed it was made in house. Then I suddenly heard this same song during an opening scene in one of our popular soap series' , and I thought, now I have to put shazam to work. And here I am It was so much more on point in the hospital series though! But on its own it invokes emotion of expectation and despair, floats between hope and mourning.

Everyone hurts. Some share their pain in the strums of their guitar strings. Others scream within their minds, begging for someone to listen. Some write stories detailing what they suffer. In sounds and in faces, in words and in actions, the pain of people can be found anywhere that it can be released. Because that's all it needs: to be released. To be recognized. To be shared.

Still thinking about you Aziz. You may not have been a perfect role model but one thing that is for sure, you changed the way I used to look at life in a more positive way. I adopted a healthy lifestyle because of you and for that I thank you. I will forever be mirin. Good bye good sir.

Just wondering. How did he inspire you to live a healthy lifestyle when he himself used to live such a roid infested life doing drugs everyday. His own death was the result of that. No offense to Zyzz I mean he did have a sick physique mirin but I wouldn't consider him as a role model for healthy bodybuilding lifestyle.

Watching this after my previous employer consolidated their losses due to poor leadership decisions and liquidated their staff. The last four weeks have been an extreme roller coaster of emotions, and as a long time fan of Olafur, I was even more pleased to find this video. Big ups to the brains behind the video and music 🙏

just finished watching this video and realized about the time my mom would tell that "life's beautiful hon" .. and that every moment is worth living .. but seeing this .. i am but bound to ask the most basic question of all times : "is this IT??" is this what life's suppose to be ?? or this is only a sad story of a person who looses his inner light with every passing minute just because of routine .. can dreaming be the only way to escape reality ???

This song played on one of the most beautiful scenes in The Originals. For some reason it stirs my emotions and always brings me to tears, as it makes me reflect on what could have been, in my life.

This songs describes my life. Just so many decision to make in my younger 20’s. So far I’ve been doing it mostly alone and it sucks so much. I feel strong 80% of the Time, but 20% of the time I feel like I’m going no where. Until recently, I started believing in my ability. Now, i think i can chase what I want with no fear. I dont care about failure or death anymore. This life is too short to live it this way. To hurt, chasing what you love. Guess thats what life is all about
