Oh man, I was trying to ignore this one but I knew it would be good. Looks like I may have to buy myself a Father’s Day present…

This one is a beauty. I didn't love the Offerman Guinness but the rest were spectacular. The charred is my favourite. I was amazing this expression 'just suddenly showed up' in the liquor stores but it has here and am I ever thrilled. This didn't happen with the other Offerman editions. Offerman is a true Lagavulin lover! I don't know if he has a lot of involvement but it wouldn't surprise me. I didn't doubt this would be delicious - not when it's Lagavulin - I have only been disappointed twice - Tequila cask - Lag 12 - Guinness Offerman. I think for what we get the price is good. I get a lot of smoke, salt air, brine, lots of oysters, charred lemon - fabulous. I dislike sweet scotch - especially Islay scotch - but this one is a beauty! I can't tell if you love it or not. I adore this beauty! I didn't want to get a huge hit of rum and I didn't - which for me is good! I wanted just a hint and smoke and I get it in a delicious way! $90 for the 16? I'd buy a case. It's a lot more here. Yikes. This is worth the cost for me and so is this one! It's $119 plus tax here. Oh wow you liked the Guinness? Interesting! Hey we all have different palettes! I'd love to see a side by side! I bought a case of this so I definitely wanted more than one bottle! I get that I enjoy this one more than you. I am an Islay nut for sure and Lagavulin is bliss!! I'm prepared to splurge - it's a treat and these days the price for this bottle isn't actually that much compared to other Islay expressions. We pay more now for sure! Cheers Bill!

Wow, you bought a case of this! You really are a fan! When looking around it seems many more folks enjoyed the Guiness and didn't like the Charred so I find that really interesting. You're unique 😀

@@TheWhiskeyDictionary I am a massive Lagavulin fan! Not a Tullamore/Balvenie fan so I didn't have their rum cask editions. I know some have been really bad so I understand your concern! Hey the nude beach in St. Bart's sounds great! Wreck in Vancouver is well known - my first/only experience in university! It's right behind UBC! Love St. Barts. My husband Joel and I have taken our kids several times and gone alone although now we are in love with yearly trips to Maui!! In my crowd people loved the Charred Offerman Edition and many also loved the Guinness! I didn't mind it actually. It just didn't stand out for me. Hey being unique is a good thing!! Lol! @@TheWhiskeyDictionary Hey awesome Bill!! I miss Lahaina and I am so sad at the horrific fires. We stay in Kapalua or Kaanapali. Would love to see a comparison of all the Offerman additions. Haven’t seen the original here in Texas for a while but the Guinness and Charred Oak are still floating around.

I did realy like the Glenfiddich Fire & Cane which put the unusually peated whiskey in a rum cask. Maybe the peat is the key to making the rum finish work, a bit of bitter to offset the sweet, kind of like the mar that accentuates the beauty.

@@jackthepickledhound I don't think anything was? Aka the next few are finished in heavily char, Guinness, and rum barrels. I'm always curious for any Lagavulin that's above 43%

@@AlexDraut i recently did a dram of the 8 that has been sitting around for a long time. Very nice whisky and a bit more pleasant than a similarly old Wee Beastie.
@AlexDraut6 ай бұрын
@@jackthepickledhound The 8 goes down very easy, and gets me into trouble lol. I know the 16 is the more refined scotch or whatever, but the price difference and 43% ABV really hurts it. I keep the 8 stocked, I only buy 16 here and there.

I was pleasantly surprised by this one. I got similar notes, I’m enjoying it. I agree with you, Tullamore Dew Rum Cask really does nothing for Irish Whiskey or for Rum. Killowen Rum and Raisin is the best rum finished whiskey in my opinion.

Crazy how prices are different from place to place. I’m in Canada and this Caribbean Edition is 120$ CAD (87 USD) (same as last year’s Charred Oak cask) while the 8 is 108$ (78 USD) and the 16 is 175$ (126 USD)

The only one I didn’t have was the first one. I think they all, lump the GoT edition in there too, with I’m glad I bought it and drank it pretty quickly, but didn’t want a second bottle.
@AlexDraut6 ай бұрын
GoT was pretty good yeah. If you liked it, the 8 isn't too far removed for something that's a core release.

Bill, we definitely learn a lot about you mostly about your Caribbean trips)))))) Great review! Definitely going to pick it up next time $75 in the Costco, local small stores from 80 to 100. And one more thing, I truly love graphics on this video. Beautiful job!

I'd love to see a side by side comparison all four of the Offerman Editions. I'll have to pick up the Carribean Cask when I get paid. I loved the Charred Oak cask. I was curious about the rum cask before and after watching your review, I think I'll really like it.

This Caribbean Cask is only the 2nd Offerman Edition I’ve tried. However, I’m on my 3rd bottle of “Charred Oak Cask”, (having purchased the last two at Costco for $80 each), so I had some expectations for the new release. I’ve only had a couple drams, but I’m enjoying the Caribbean Cask. Hopefully it shows up at my local Costco for a reasonable price too. Cheers.

This is the only Diageo bottle I routinely buy, so when i saw it for $82 it was a no-brainer. I wouldn't pay 100 off the bat, but then the good reviews started coming and I knew the shop that doesn't gauge prices would be getting it soon. I'm still working on the Guineas so I'm on eof those collector types that will Happily taste vicariously thru you
