Lagonda 2 Litre at 80-90 MPH on Motorway.

This 1933 Lagonda, British registration number OJ 8844, totally original including its own 2 Litre engine but equipped with a downdraught cylinder head and high compression pistons is perfectly capable of keeping up with modern traffic, cruising at 80 MPH and a top speed of 90 MPH with three people on board. The car also runs very smooth and relatively quiet; the noise is mainly the wind blowing hard into the video camera microphone.

I remember over thirty years ago, I almost purchased a 1935 Lagonda Hearse that was sitting on a used car lot in San Mateo, California. The asking price was only $6.500.00 and I intended to remove the hearse body and, since it was built on a long wheelbase, install an open, nine passenger, "touring car" coachwork on the chassis. It ran well and needed little mechanically to return it to original. Sadly, I was married at the time and my wife pointed out that we had no place to park it and she felt uneasy having a hearse parked outside of her home. I reluctantly agreed, taking into consideration the expense necessary to build a new body from scratch. At any rate, your video brought back some fond memories and I thank you for sharing it with us.
