This was one of my first SNES games. I taped the intro screen on VHS because the music was so good. Both my SNES and VHS are long gone, but I still remember that game had great music.

Nasir's tiny sword makes a bit more sense when you consoder that the X68000 version has bump style combat like early Ys games. Or maybe more like Xak since it seems you still have to press a button to have your sword out? I don't think the game's poor quality can be blamed entirely on the port job ( it's fun to see Kemco here already publishing mediocrity though!) but I would like to play the original some time.

I can kinda picture link meeting this protagonist 🤣 Link: whoa bud. That sword is too small Nisar: w what? It works Link: na. Take it from me. You're going to get tore to shreds with that little thing. We gotta get you a upgrade. Try this on for size *Link tosses nisar his old fairy blade* Nasir: thanks. But what are you going to use? Link: Ah don't worry about me. I'm covered😁 *Link pulls out his master sword and swings it, sending out starburst every swing. Nasir watches in awe*

I stuck this game out and eventually beat it back in the day. Man that sword is short! I can still remember being lost in that bland dungeon too! Everything looks the same!

I loved this game when I was 13 and had just got it. I’d never seen anything like it in terms of storytelling and music and style - we Nintendo kids didn’t really get any rpgs in Sweden, either. (Sega kids had both Phantasy Star and the Shining series). I replayed it last year and it’s as good as I remember but the final boss is a lot harder. I just can’t seem to get it. So a minor disappointment, but I still had a good time getting there.

Lagoon was one of the first SNES games I played when it was released back in 1991-1992. I loved it! The graphics style was so unusual, the gameplay was hard, but the music was IN-CRE-DI-BLE!!! Made me want to keep playing to the end!

I was surprised to see a video about this game. I remember one of my brother's friends had this. The boring started out kinda boring. Of course, we made fun of the sword and called it a butter knife. I remember the first boss being called Samson and was pretty difficult unless you knew his weak spot. As a small child, I played the game because I was bored. But I remember after beating the first boss and getting to some kind of open field, that all of a sudden the game got a lot better. At this point, you've gotten used to the butter knife. I remember finding different towns and characters. I also liked how the character's appearance changed. The music was great. In the end, I really liked this game. I don't have a SNES anymore, but I would really like to have it! I'm not sure about the whole mediocre rating system (I guess that's your thing), but I was sad to see it as a no. Honestly, I think that most people who like RPG's or adventure games would like this if they commit to give it a shot. In my own experience, I was not sure at all, but after getting to the open field, it just kept getting better!

I found this game quite fun back in the day, but these classic RPG tropes were not so played out by then. The tiny knife made the game way harder than it had any right to be lol

I have this game, but why is the audio for this video so low?
@MediocreSNES2 ай бұрын
Improved audio on newer videos! First time doing this. I’ll revisit this game with better audio later 😁

I assume it's because the channel is newer. New people starting out don't have the money for professional-quality equipment, but I imagine that'll change in time. I'm subscribing because I love following new channels and watching them improve over time.

This game is considered ass, but I have a soft spot for it. It was one of the first SNES games I ever rented from this small mom-and-pop rental place a few blocks away from me, and I must have been 8 or 9 at the time in 1994 or 95. I spent my allowance renting this game for like 2 or 3 weeks straight because I didn't want to lose my save state. I eventually did beat it, and it was probably one of the first games I beat other than Super Mario World. Good times!

I was so into SNES and Genesis that practically every game seemed awesome to me until I actually rented it or bought it and realized some were bad. I remember looking at the box for Lagoon and being sure it was awesome and "next level".
@holidayinn42932 ай бұрын
The main thing was this was one of the only RPG options on the SNES for a long time. That's all it ever had going for it. It's not a good game or a hidden gem. It's bad.
@caseyhayes45902 ай бұрын
@@holidayinn4293 I'd have never guessed this was released over a year before FFII on SNES in USA. It's crazy how many great RPGs we missed out on or had to wait for before FFVII changed it.
@LocustaVampa2 ай бұрын
@@holidayinn4293 I think it's not bad, but it is primitive. It was considered mid in the 90's, due to Zelda existing. If there was no Zelda, Lagoon might have made an impact. Hardcore gamers might sill enjoy it as a period piece

I hate that your character is on the very edge of the camera. Walking through a dungeon and keep bumping in to enemies because you can't see them coming D:

Im old. I played this when it was new. Tried really hard to like it, but the action was lacking, the graphics were so-so and the puzzles & quests were just terrible. It was so bad I never even thought of it as a Zelda clone. I thought of it as an overhead Ys game but even worse. And thats pretty bad.

I remember this game. I still have nightmares about the boss rooms. Although there was a great line about how "light gives us hope and energy, darkness gives us rest and peace" near the end of the game that rocked young me as being way too deep for a 16 bit SNES game.
