Wow Lagos is rapidly progressing now. I love the majestic skyline and the decent elevated blue rail line mass transit. Nigeria is richer than my country for now and I hope that my country's cities can catch up the progress of Lagos and Abuja. I pray that my capital city will look beautiful like Lagos someday.

Lagos needs more housing infrastructure. A city with that population would need more affordable high rises for the lower and middle class. Nigeria's cities should have more high rises. It is suitable for the population. Rather than spread out as slums it would be more organized if they live on high rises..Sadly the only tall buildings are offices and hotels which isn't a good planning within the city center. A lot of work is needed. China and India have a lot of land. They even have the common sense to build affordable high rises wirthin their city centers like Mumbai and Shanghai. Nigerias land is small and the population is growing exponentially. Sadly the leaders dont have the slightest clue to understand that the solution is to build high rises to contain the population in the smallest state and largest city like lagos. Nairobi in Kenya and Luanda Angola are far more developed by housing infrastructure compared the the many slums in Lagos.

High rise buildings infrastructure when u haven't solved the power generation problem would be counterproductive. China that is doing this is a technology driven country that has longed dealt with power generation so lifts and comfort going upwards can be maintained

If you build affordable high rises and decent modern buildings, the government can decide the amount of electricity to be distributed to each apartment. If you live in houses made from zinc and cartons and wood planks like all those makoko and other ghetto areas, what makes you think the government will be willing to distribute electricity to places that will soon be demolished. You build the city properly first then decide how much electricity should be distributed. You don't push people into pig swirl slums and give them electricity in their bad conditions. By your understanding you want the slums and underdeveloped areas to remain but with electricity while I want a well designed city with electricity. A city must be well built with affordable high rising within the city center for lower and middle class citizens. All roads must contain side walks road signs and the streets must be well paved. There should be garbage and sewage treatment plants. There should be a weekly plan to collect garbage from homes to the treatment plants to recycle the garbage into natural soil composites not to landfills as well as plastics, metals,papers being collected to the plants for recycling purposes. Roads within cities must be built with underground drainage systems not with opened gutters filled with garbage where mosquitoes lay their eggs to spread diseases. There should be a weekly plan to clean the streets with automated street cleaning vehicles to prevent dust and garbage from accumulating on the sides of the roads. With a properly and neatly built city with proper housing infrastructure, electricity can be distributed to homes and used for street lighting, traffic lights and so on.There should also be water purification plants in every state to supply water to every home for cooking and bathing. So building a city is not about ignoring the slums and filth for electricity alone but getting rid of corrupt money pocketing leaders first and putting leaders who have vision for city development that are better than European and Asian standards.
