Airports have departure procedures that afford various views to passengers. In this video, I fly on LaGuardia's newly named Pelham Climb off of runway 4. The climb provides views of the densely populated Bronx and even Manhattan as a whole! Come join me for a fully narrated and highly detailed explanation of what is going on in the airspace.

By the way, as a former ramp agent, I can let you know that the tires being delivered, shown on pushback, are jetbridge tires.

I'm a nervous flier who has recently transitioned into challenging my phobia (and excelling). Mentour Pilot helped me tackle my fear, but this video (and I am guessing that your channel) has sparked a curiosity and deep-seeded love for flying. Thank you. Mentour is super cool and very knowledgeable,I have learned tons of aviation material from him..you may also try watching."Steveo 1 kenivo" he flies the TBM 940 and TBM 850.commercial pilot.what I like about his videos is that he shows you and teaches you all the procedures for takeoff and landing. After a few times you will start memorizing every step and procedures. But to me the one that is on top is Juan Browne Blancolirio channel....Dan probable cause is also another veteran aviator dedicated to GA safety! I also like(can't pass him) Kelsey 74Gear..he a 747 pilot.

The BEST Video Ever, and let me explain the reason: I am not from the US but this video touched me deeply. Back in 1980 was my first visit to the US and I stayed at my mother's cousin who lived at THE BRONX at PELHAM PARKWAY. I have long forgotten it until today watching your video abot the PELHAM CLIMB. Bringing back my younger years... 15 years later I visited the US once more and at that visit I stayed at a friend's family in MOUNT VERNON, also in you video... It seemse that unknowingly I am part of the PELHAM CLIMB... Things in the world are never lost, they come back to you from places you never thought of... Thank you.

Amazing the amount of air traffic the greater NYC area deals with. When I'm picking up clients coming in from Newark, flight plans usually allow for about a 90 minute flight from departing the gate to arriving in BOS. If the flights need to take off to the south, it may take the full 90 minutes. If to the north, they leave NY, bang a right and may land less than 30 minutes later. Always tricky to plan for those...

Great video. Just subscribed. I loved the detail to your description. That LiveATC archive is a wonderful thing. Back in the fall when the NYC area had such flooding and EWR was shut down from a tornado, I watched JFK on FlightRadar24 and listened to the ATC. I was so struck by the way pilots and ATC worked together to get through the weather conditions and changing wind direction that I pulled down the archived recordings of the entire night. I then reassembled the 10 files into a single and used software to remove the long silent spans. Over 5 hours condensed to less than 2. It’s riveting to relive the night. We flew into LGA a few months later on our way to CDG, via a transfer to JFK. I felt like I knew the ATC after that night and was very confident in their skills.

This was fun to get a tour of the area being the guy who normally flies in seat -1A and usually bids to stay west of the Mississippi river based on the Left Coast. I've flown a few AUS-LGA out and backs with a four hour turn. Enough time to change shirts and get a good walk in and enjoy a slice before heading back to Texas. We parked at the old Marine Terminal and I've yet to figure out how to grab that Pan Am flying boat hanging from the lobby ceiling. Love the deco and history as we always landed on 13 descending over the Bronx after an over water arrival.

Nerdgasm! What a beautiful video. It breaks my heart seeing how beautiful and loved your country is (I have never been to NYC but recognise over 50% of the labelled landmarks as well as being addicted to commercial aviation) - the landscape so epic and peaceful despite the disproportionate amount of fear, anger and hate that consumes so many of the people living and working below.....

I miss flying in and out of LGA and JFK so bad. I used to get emotional and cry during every take off/landing bc I was in awe of the whole process 😅 that plus watching Queens enter and exit my view increased the feeling. My uncle’s an aviation mechanic at JFK and my dad worked at FedEx back in the day so I got to go behind the scenes and ship lines a lot before 9/11. So cool to hear my other city (RVA) mentioned and notice the difference of the flight paths. I’m used to being near and over water most of the time. I’m used to making the drive up north, but this is tempting me to fly again ✈️

I'm a pilot for Delta based in NYC. Your videos are fantastic for those interested in aviation. Your explanations are accurate while being simplified enough that people not familiar with aviation jargon can understand it. Thanks for your videos, and thank you for flying with us. I am still impressed every time I fly into or out of NYC at how it all works. So much work by so many people makes the most congested airspace in the US work. I can almost say it's the most congested airspace in the world, but it looks like London has NYC beat, at least in 2019.

Nice video. I just retired from ZDC where I sequenced LGA’s for more than 30 years. My FAA career controlling the DC-NY corridor was the best thing ever!

Well done! Right across the Grand Central Parkway at the beginning of runway 4, there's a great area for plane spotting. Spent a few Saturday afternoons there watching planes on low approach over Queens.

@@PeterMasella Thanks for the link! Did you know that some approach lights for runway 4 are actually positioned in the backyards and front yards of some residences near the airport? I couldn't believe it when I saw that!

I quit USAir in 2002 after being an aircraft mechanic for many years in LGA. My how the place has really changed, including the school I went to that you show when you point out the aircraft that you have to wait for to land before you take off. Looks like the same route the Miracle on the Hudson flight took

Love your videos. I don’t know how to tune in to the ATC but I’m sure there is a video on KZbin. Much appreciate the names of the land marks over the Bronx as I grew up in Queens and only visited the zoo and stadium. Thanks again.

Mr. Masella, I really enjoy the detailed information you always provide about taxing as well as the climb/decent. Is there any way for you to show us, as you explain, the taxiway/runway map of the airpot (in the case LaGuardia) as well as the filed Flight Path on the respective path? Just a thought!
